First off, this is one of the cheapest (price wise) leaf vacuum/baggers around. Second, its works great for the price. And it is SO much better than constantly clogging up the vacuum hose/pump.

If you want absolute perfection, go spend $100. If you want something that is cheap, has a few flaws but does the job, this is it. I sucked up probably 15+ full bags worth of leaves/twigs/etc that had accumulated over the winter.

Now, there are a few notes/tricks I've come up with to make it go much more smoothly.

The swivel hose connection on the thing WILL leak some. Accept it in advance, or see the part above about $100.

If you don't have good water pressure where you are, don't order it. The whole directional jets/venturi principle requires good pressure. Dont blame the product if it takes you 10 minutes fill a one gallon bucket with water!

The bag/net pull-string design does not allow it to get tight enough to not come off some times. Pull it as tight as possible, and don't be flailing the pole around like you're in a sword fight and it will be fine. But, be sure to put the string loop over the pole connector before attaching the pole. This way, if it does come off, the bag automatically closes and slides up the pole....instead of having to fish it out of the pool!

Unless you have a partner, child, or a paid laborer to be on faucet duty the whole time, do yourself a favor and order an in-line hose shutoff valve (probably < $5) - if you have a lot of debris in the pool that while require emptying of the bag more than once.

With the brushes, I found it most effective to remove all the brushes then put one of the large brushes in the small back section.

Just received this product and it was NOT new. Instead a repackaged return from some other customer who discovered the same thing I did and returned the item. The problem is the press fit of the flange which secures the net to the main body. In my case, it was loose and will not hold when in use. That means as the item collects leaves at the bottom of the pool the flange will eventually come off emptying all that has been collected. NOT GOOD!! This defect basically makes the item useless. The flange should be permanently attached/glued and not simply a 'press fit'. I've purchased this or similar items before and they work.. too simple not to unless the item is defective and/or the vendor repackages then re-ships returned/defective merchandise to the 'next' customer. Amazon will replace this defective item and that's OK... assuming the same problem doesn't reoccur. Meanwhile... lotsa leaves are still finding their way to the bottom of my pool.

Update: Indeed Amazon has promtply sent me a replacement item with the same problem... loose flange... won't hold when under water a gathering leaves. So... THIS TIME... I epoxied the flange to the main body... it's good to go NOW! Another item made in China with quality control issues. Upgraded the rating from 1 star to 3 stars as the basic design is effective and the net/bag included is fine mesh and a good one. Just wish the Chineses made this better the first time around.

I am soaking wet and mad as he**. First of all I could not use the quick connect as it didnt come with the second part that connects to my garden hose so I just screwed my hose into it. Unlike the other negative reviews it picked up a large amount of leaves very quickly and I was constantly having to run and shut the water off so I could re-attach the bag which is a very big waste of time. Upon the 4th time vacuuming I lifted it out, the bag and the lip that it attaches to came off and I was left with a fountain of water blasting out of the top and soaking me to the bone as I desperately tried to grab the bag which was out of reach and has now sunk to the bottom 8 1/2 ft down. I cant go in the pool to get it because the water full of chemicals and is cloudy so I cant even see where exactly it has come to rest. I have tried to locate it with the skimmer but no luck so I guess I am just out of luck. This could have been a fantastic product but sadly there are just too many design flaws.

It's not too sturdy, but I've used it twice and it really picks up leaves. I took the brushes off the bottom and let the wheels keep it about a half-inch off the pool floor. This lets the leaves get under the unit so they can be sucked up. My only complaint is that it's not heavy enough to keep itself good and flat on the bottom, especially with the garden hose coming off the side to tip it over. But that is really pretty minor and I recommend giving it a try, especially at the price.

I have over 5 garden hoses and none of them will thread in with out starting to cross thread. The half of a quick disconnnect that comes in the unit is fine threaded compared to the coarse threaded hoses. I spent over six weeks calling Hydrotools customer service. When I finally got some one I was sent the second piece of a quick disconnect only it was not the mate to my hallf. One call I was told that I had cross threaded the hose, despite telling the rep. that the threads were differant. The last call I was told by the rep that he tried several units on several hoses at his mother's house with no problem and that he had done his due dillegance at checking the problem out. Needless to say I would not reccomend this to an enemy. Chuck
