Another reviewer said it's hard to read (which is true) but they didn't say *why*.
*Why* is because the scale on the crazy thing goes from -20 to 120 degrees F! The temperature marks are very close together because there are so many of them. I don't know about anyone else but I typically don't go swimming when the water is minus 20 degrees. Basically it looks like rather than bother to find a thermometer with a suitable temperature range, they just took an outdoor one and stuck it in a tube (with a cute little shark thingy on top).
Still, I give it 3 stars because it does work and it's cheap.

Needs to be weighted so it floats properly. I order many pool thermometers that go in a welcome basket for newcomers in our community. I won't order these again. They do not float property - float sideways, not straight up & down. My penguin looks very lethargic.

It's an attractive thermometer and the first one I've seen with this particular boat design. I'd advise treating this product carefully. It seemed to get water inside the boat fairly easily, and then the boat lists to one side. The thermometer detached from the boat (it was held in place with both adhesive and friction).
At my pool, this item was pulled to the bottom of the pool to check the temperature there, and I think this is what precipitated the leak and thermometer detachment.

Ducky float
It didn't come as showned in the picture, i.e. it was not blue at the bottom, it was yellow. It doesn't stay afloat too long, it tends to tip over quite often.

poor quality
The thermometer wouldn't stay upright and fogged up and condensated so it could not be read. Cute idea, poor quality.

Floating Boat Thermometer
This was a nice little boat and received it fast. It was good while it lasted.

I have the same problem as others have said about keeping it down in the water . Dont they test these things first ? Its looks cool but i would not buy it again
