"UL warns of unauthorized UL Marks on a power strip (Release 11PN-42)
Northbrook, IL - December 5, 2011 - UL (Underwriters Laboratories) is notifying retailers and consumers that the power strip identified below bears unauthorized UL Marks for the United States and Canada. The power strip has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate Standards for Safety and it is unknown if this power strip complies with the UL safety requirements for the United States or Canada.

Name of Product: Wet Circuits 4-Outlet Power Strip, Model GF-3401"

[...]

There is no way this product makes electrical products safe in wet conditions, especially if there is a loss of both ground and neutral wire connections, a hazard considered so dangerous that ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) are required to disconnect power in case of loss of the neutral connection. Neutral and ground wires are extremely important for safety because without them the current from the hot connection has no path to travel except to earth ground, which may require traveling through YOU and killing you. People haven't been shocked while using this product only because any leakage current was diverted to the neutral or ground wires or because a GFCI turned off the current. The vast majority of outdoor AC outlets are protected by a GFCI (electrical code requirement since the late 1970s), and it was a GFCI that kept shutting off the current when John Biggs of TechCrunch tested this product:

[...]

Biggs wrongly attributed the shutdowns to the safety features of the Wet Circuits power strip, rather than to the GFCI as he should have, because this power strip has nothing in it to shut off power in case of an electrical shock hazard caused by water.

I wanted a safe power strip for a bathroom and thought this was it. Most power strips advise against use in bathrooms or moist environments. But when i googled it I found that Underwriter's Lab has issued a warning about this product. The UL stamp is fake and it is not UL listed.

I certainly won't trust a product with a fake listing! Wonder where it is made?

Not happy. Does not look-like picture as specified. Cheap and made in China I think. Not UL tested. I don't feel safe in using this product outside in rain.
