There are books and then there are books. In a world obsessed with "green tech" and "clean tech", Hydrogen Hope or Hype simply and concisely breaks down the problems facing our planet today and lays out one possible path to a sustainable energy future. Of course the thermodynamics of energy and chemical reactions are complex, yet by reading this book a layperson can now understand entropy and sustainability without feeling bewildered. The salvation of our planet will be through the changed lifestyles of laypeople not through the dictates of those in power. Leveen quotes Steven Hawking who said "We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special." Reading this book will give you a head start on understanding the universe while making you feel special.

I have my own point of view and opinions on the matter of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. It is important that this book gets out to the public in a big way. I feel that this book is required reading if one wants to have a proper understanding of which proposed green energy development makes sense.

Hydrogen - Hope or Hype? is a worthwhile primer for all who are interested in the broad subjects of energy policy, transportation fuels including hydrogen, sustainable development, greenhouse gases, and global warming. This book provides useful facts, and explains in understandable everyday terms the complexities of energy from a technical and an economic perspective. I am fortunate to have this ready reference and recommend it to all who are involved in the production and use of energy.

I co-hosted a show on blog talk radio with Lindsay Leveen the Green Machine. We exposed the myths of perpetual motion and abundant inexpensive energy. Lindsay Leveen the Green Machine knows his thermodynamics and knows how to explain this techno gobbledegook to the layperson and even children. Read his book Hydrogen Hope or Hype and you will gain useful information to discern fact from fiction when it comes to energy and sustainability. This book is easy to ready and will make you think hard about what you have heard around green energy and how to identify the technologies that will stand the test of time.
