The only book about hydroponics you need.,

This review is from: Hydroponic Food Production: A Definitive Guidebook for the Advanced Home Gardener and the Commercial Hydroponic Grower, Sixth Edition (Hardcover)
The "Resh" bible, is the definitive guidebook about hydroponics. Resh review the actual techniques and different systems he observed over 40 years as well as provide deep technical insight to most of them. This book should the first to be reviewed if you aspire to be a commercial grower and the best reference book for horticultural consultant working with soilless systems.

This is by far the most definitive work I've read on the subject. A co-worker of mine recommended this as the "Bible" of hydroponics and he was absolutely right.
It looks like a textbook right down to the ugly cyan/green cover, but it doesn't matter how a book looks if it's got it where it counts. Whether you're a hobbyist or a commercial hydroponics grower, this book is something you'll have wished you'd read.

As a small commercial grower, this book has been invaluable to us. We used its recommendations for building our greenhouse to selecting the irrigation and media we use. We gained a lot of experience without the usual penalty costs involved. If you are on a budget and can't afford a library of books, buy this one instead.

Provides a very good knowledge base for reference. The plant nutritional deficiency-disease chart/diagnosis tool is very helpful. A good tool for the serious hobbyist or grower.

Very technical and in depth review of hydroponic gardening and techniques. Probably a bit more information than the average hobbiest needs but packed full of good information. More designed for the large scale operation but the same techniques apply.

It is a good book,
I think the author could give more nutrition recipes. The manual calculation for fertilizer very long and I think the author shout mention that some free programs on the net can do this calculation very fast. It is a good book about hydroponics.

Drawing on over 25 years of personal experience, Howard Resh has written this comprehensive technical manual for the commercial hydroponic food grower. Accompanied by numerous black and white photographs of commercial growing operations, Resh describes the many possible hydroponic systems, along with their strengths and weaknesses, taking into consideration the particular crops grown, regional environments, and geographic availability of various media. All aspects of growing hydroponically are covered, including: * Plant nutritional needs * Managing nutrient solutions * Diagnosing nutritional deficiencies and excesses * History of hydroponics * Various soilless cultures (water, sand, gravel, sawdust, rockwool, peat, rice hulls, vermiculite, perlite, synthetics, etc.) * Environmental influences * Water and greenhouse temperature * Lighting * Ventilation * Sanitation * Pollination * Dealing with pests and fungal diseases * Using pesticides and biological controls * Sterilization Resh offers suggestions for managing specific crops, such as desired media, germination, transplantation and harvest timeframes, temperature needs, crop spacing, suckering and trimming, and growing supports. The appendices include extensive resource lists and bibliography. While Resh does offer tips for small-scale operators on a few of the systems, this highly technical, no-nonsense manual is an invaluable reference more appropriate for the large-scale, professional grower. Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the publisher. |
