Book Description

Hydroponics (Latin for “working water”) is the practice of growing flowers or edible plants using water instead of soil. When people think of hydroponics they usually envision huge greenhouse-type commercial enterprises with lab-coated scientists wandering about making adjustments.

But hydroponics is actually very simple and a growing number of people are gardening and farming in their homes using hydroponics. Some of these farmers turned their hobby of hydroponic farming into profitable enterprises.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont waste your money January 3, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Best described as a pamphlet. Large type and double spaced (only about one page of content if single spaces and normal sized type). Information is vague and general at best.

1.0 out of 5 stars basic is an understatement February 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is more like an underwritten magazine article you'd see in a "circular"... it barely scratches the surface of what is involved in hydroponic gardening... it has NO illustrations or figures included whatsoever... it has no science to support it's statements (not a single calculation or reference to justify the statements within)... and has been written on about an 8th grade level.

If you don't understand the basics of gardening (and I mean utter basics) and require an extremely cursory overview of hydroponics (and some of the related components) this is an OK place to start... but it will leave you with A LOT of unanswered questions.

It's kind of like having your illiterate uncle explain a modern fuel injection system to a 3 year old... he is going to leave out a lot of important information, all of the key data involved, and mostly just talk about the big pieces of the system... e.g. "...there are injectors that get fuel from the fuel tank and squirt it into the cylinder which burns it and makes the engine turn... the computer tells the injector how much fuel to put in the hole... and that's what makes cars work so good little Timmy..."

If you want to know more about this topic, you can get more from google than this text, and there are other books on Amazon that are better for the same price (free).

1.0 out of 5 stars this is more of an essay rather than an educational December 26, 2013

Way to basic. This is a fifth grade book report. I would have liked to see graphics and how to diagrams.
