My 10 year old daughter has been dealing with anxiety since she was 5. While in her case this generalized anxiety disorder was later diagnosed as OCD, this is a product that we used five years ago and still use today to relax her 'worries' when traveling.

These very small, relatively tasteless pills melt under your child's tongue. For my daughter (70 lbs.), 2 tablets are what helps. Assuming you don't use them all the time, one bottle of 125 tablets could last you a very long time!

Pro's:

+Helps to relieve anxiety, restlessness, sleeplessness, night terrors, growing pains and crying without a specific cause.

Con's:
-Unless you're familiar with homeopathic medicine, the contents of this product are a mystery. Even with the names printed on the bottle!
-It is still mood altering; natural or not. This should be used with caution as it is possible to accidentally overdose.
-You should consult your child's pediatrician before giving this to them, as it may not work with their specific health condition and/or medications.
-This product does not replace traditional medicines and/or psychiatric care as needed.

This product is certainly something that works to calm your child, but it may not be for everyone and certainly it's not going to 'fix' an underlying problem that may need to be addressed another way.

Attention all parents, stock up on this product!!! For our toddler these have been a life saver, whenever he has one of his moods, we reach for the calms forte. While it's not an instant fix, after about 10 minutes or so it does seem to take the edge off and we can start talking about what is wrong and getting back to normal. You can find these in your local walgreens drug store but this price is much better and it's nice to have a couple of these. We keep one in his diaper bag so we have them handy when were out too.

My kids have trouble falling asleep, many nights they are still up an hour after their bedtime. When I use Calmes Forte for Kids they are out within 10 minutes and stay asleep!

My eldest son often goes through periods of insomnia. He says that he just can't turn off his brain. We usually start with a guided relaxation exercise like Visions of Sugarplums - Guided Journeys. (We really like the "Island of Wishes.")

If that doesn't work, then it's three Hyland's Calms Forte under the tongue. They seem to work like a charm, and usually he's out within 20-30 minutes vs. 3 hours.

I've taken them as well on occasion. :)

If your child has chronic insomnia (as mine does), then I'd recommend the following:

1) Plenty of exercise--make sure they're outside playing at least one hour per day--preferably two.

2) Make sure that their room is dark enough for sleep. Night lights are fine, but some are so bright that they can interfere.

3) Have your bedtime routine...and wind down. Ours includes reading (either story time or on one's own)...as well as prayers...and a guided meditation (see above.)

4) Try something with tryptophan before bed...our favorite is milk and a banana. (Can do hot chocolate (made with milk) too.)

We ordered this product out of sheer frustration when we were switching my son to his toddler bed. He decided to commence the typical 2 year old battle of wills- him bawling for hours on end, neighbors calling the cops because I must be beating him, me sitting at the doorway a la supernanny sleep tactics. Ordered through prime so it'd get here quicker. We were about a week into big boy bed training and I hadn't slept in 4 days, my 5 year old was cranky, my son was utterly exhausted(the crib was broken, for those of you mentally condemning me, wasn't going to pay 300 to replace something that needed replaced in 6 months anyways- he was already climbing out and falling).

So anyways, not sure if it was the product, or just the end of the tantrums- but the first night we gave him 2 doses, 15 minutes apart, and he was out. Slept from about 830 to 10 the next morning, and so did the rest of us, lol.

As to mood altering, all I've noticed is that my son is in a BETTER mood, probably due to the sleep he's actually getting now.

We didn't want to accustom him to needing sleep aids, so we started not dosing him after a week or so, and he's going to sleep fine. He does wake up in the middle of the night, but spends most of his night play time laying in bed and murmuring to his toys. Twice in the intervening 2 weeks, he rolled out of bed or fell off his toybox that he had climbed onto, and he'll tell me "nighy night cine" and point to the tiny bottle we keep up in the closet and gesture to his mouth, so I'll give him one little tablet, more as placebo I think, since it takes 4 to actually calm him down and help him sleep.

But overall they seem to work and we're extremely satisfied.

My daughter started having night terrors at 15 months old. The only information I could find about them is to stick to a routine. Being a working mom, I have to run errands and go shopping on the weekends, so a weekend routine to match the daily routine was impossible. Even if I tried to stay on same routine, it didn't help. The frequency and volatility was increasing as she got older. I stumbled upon a review for these saying it helped with night terrors. I tried them, and they work great. I have been giving these to her for 2 months, and she has not had any night terrors since. I give her 2 pills about an hour before bedtime, and it helps her unwind, and goes to sleep much quicker. In the past, it took almost and hour to get her to sleep, but now it's only a few minutes. I would recommend this to any parent who has children with sleep issues. It has been a miracle for our family!!

This product is the best. I use it for my kids it helps them calm down before bed and they sleep all night where as before they were always getting up for water and to use the restroom and of course to watch tv now they are calm and sleep all night. There are no harmful side effects and it does not interfere with medicines. Now our Bedtime Calm :)

I wouldnt believe it if I didnt see it myself. I bought this product one desperate night when my 10 month old was waking up every 30 minutes again. After month of sense-less crying and many doctor visits to confirm nothing is wrong with her, I decided to give this a try. Because she is only 10 months, I started by only giving her half of one tablet and it worked! Its been over a week now, and i am happy to say, i am finally starting to get some sleep again. THANK YOU for making this product. I dont really understand how it works, but it works!

We just received this product today and gave it to our son before bed to calm him. We gave him the recommended dose. He has been up for almost three hours, throwing up profusely. He hasn't been sick so this isn't just a coincidence. He woke up at his normal time for a night terror (about 1.5 hour after putting him to sleep), and again, has been throwing up half the night. Super scary! I'm sure this works for some and that's great, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Who knows how safe it really is.
