1.0 out of 5 stars Secular, often unrealistic, and some anecdotes questionable as true
Another Hyles essay on his own greatness. Hyles' mixes some Dale Carnegie, some "power of positive thinking" and a ton of cliches that have existed in previously Southern Baptist churches to produce a useless and unrealistic and totally amoral guidebook on church leadership.

Another Hyles essay on his own greatness. Hyles' mixes some Dale Carnegie, some "power of positive thinking" and a ton of cliches that have existed in previously Southern Baptist churches to produce a useless and unrealistic and totally amoral guidebook on church leadership.

You can evaluate a man's work by its outcome. Hyles former church now spouts gross and profane heresies about communion being a sex act between the believer and God. His college, Hyles-Anderson has graduated more indicted or convicted felons than any school I have ever heard of. The book is well organized and will lead you down a gilded road to destroying the genuine faith that resides in your church. Shun his method.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunday School advice from "America's Pastor", September 1, 2001
This review is from: Hyles Sunday School Manual (Paperback)
God used Dr. Jack Hyles to build "America's Largest Sunday School". This book shows you how it was done and how you can use the same methods to help your church.

This book is excellent. The greatest is the practicality of everything Brother Hyles teaches. None of this is "theory"; it's from the REAL world and has been used for years and years at the great First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana.

1.0 out of 5 stars How to ruin your family, church and life!, February 13, 2001

Jonathan E. Hohn (Pontiac, MI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hyles Sunday School Manual (Paperback)
Jack Hyles, untill his death in Febraury 2001 was nothing more than a cult leader. His sermons were nothing more than exercises in his immense ego and pride. As a former student at Hyles-Anderson College, who was taught out of this book. I saw first-hand the hero worship that was heaped upon this man by mindless followers (myself included). Luckily I realized how misguided this way of thinking was and left the college/cult.

If you really want a taste of the Hyles Cult, order some of his old sermons tapes from Frist Baptist Chruch of Hammond, IN and count the number of times he uses the word I or uses himself or his life as an example. You'll be surprised at the results.

I welcome anyone to e-mail me to dicusss this further.
