5.0 out of 5 stars Why has no one reveiwed this yet ????
I will keep it short . This is one of the best releases this year . Hymie's Basement is made up of Fog from ninjatunes and Why? from Anticon . It has excellent music , excellent lyrics and a style all of its own . Very rewarding listen . Get this !

1.0 out of 5 stars frickin' awful
This is possibly the worst CD I have ever owned. I ordered it because I thought it might be worthwhile, subsidiary of warp and so on but it is NOT. I took it in and traded it in the same day I got it in the mail.

5.0 out of 5 stars I need a louder stereo, April 21, 2004

I've never wanted to play a CD as loud as this one.

If you listen to tons of music and feel as though there is nothing new, nothing exciting, nothing breathtaking anymore, GIVE THIS A TRY.

I feel bad for the reviewer below who returned this CD the same day he/she got it. This CD is full of hooks, but probably requires some getting used to.

It's not like Kid A, where every reviewer under the sun wrote, "It consistently gets better after the twentieth and twenty-first listening." That CD was the musical equivalent of a dark forest (like Dante's 'selva oscura').

This CD is the musical equivalent of having defibrillator paddles shocking the stale music out of your brain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this if you are a Why? fan., March 5, 2006
This review is from: Hymie's Basement (Audio CD)
This album is a really good. Very original. I would sugest this one to anticon/why? fans. Good tracks; Ben & Joey, America Won, 21st Century pop song, America Two, The Act, and a bunch others. This a good record to put on when you want to relax or sleep or something. Its very chill.

I was riding in my friend's car just soaking up the apolstery and boom like a comet... or... bathroom cleaner i was all ick... hip hop...
then... it grew... melodious... exploding into my head... bobbing along rhymically rowboat... compulsion... emulsion?
21st century pop song is my new wonderland in which to frolick!
the politik is just in thyme for this season!!!!!
lilting, quirky, honest, abstract!
crossing the limits of hip hop and the real music world...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing!, January 24, 2008

I'll admit it, I am an indie fanatic, and a music snob. This is "one of those CDs" I will always love and recommend to anybody, there is something for everybody.

Catchy and creative, deep and abstract; it's everything you could ask for and more than you could imagine.

If you like this, I highly suggest looking into the band called "cLOUDDEAD" if you haven't already. "Why?", the singer on this album, is all over their albums, as well as his brilliant sidekick "Dose One"... amongst others. Just, get it. Now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Mixture anyone?, April 5, 2004
By
Zach (Port Angeles, WA United States) - See all my reviews

This is just what i've been looking for, its a perfect blend of indie rap (with meaningful/genius lyrics) like no other in a rap song and followed by the interesting yet creatively grooving sounds of Fog. It doesn't have a bad song on it, for any Why or Fog fan, this is a must have.
