21st Century Tahiti!.,

This was the first time that I^d heard Fenua, and now I just want to hear more. The mix of old and new shouldn^t work, but it does!. It^s excellent. If you^ve not heard Fenua before and love Tahiti then you^ve got to try it. But if you^re not that adventurous and want to stick with more traditional Tahitian Tamure dance music then the ultimate c.d. is Heiva I Tahiti: Festival of Life by David Fanshawe. A beautiful selection and great sound quality.

Fenua performs traditional Tahitian somgs with a techno beat. The blend of traditional and modern works very well. The melodies are beautiful, the rhythms exotic. A terrific musical travelogue. Highly recommended! Fenua's music is becoming difficult to find. Don't be disappointed: order it now!

If you've been to Tahiti, you've heard their music and most likely love it. If not, it's the next best thing to going there...,

The name of this group, Fenua, translates as "Island." They manage to mix techo with traditional for an awesome sound that seems to appeal to both old and young. In Tahiti, their CDs sell for roughly 36US$. The Amazon price for whatever is available is a bargain. Most of their work is not sold in the US. There isn't a single song on this CD that I opt to skip when I play it, and I never fail to feel better after listening to it.

I couldn't escape it, and now I can't get enough,

I spent a week on Bora Bora a couple years ago, and while there I could not escape Fenua. Wherever you went, there it was in the background. Everyone playing it.. everywhere. To the extent that in that short week, I found myself knowing the words (not understanding them). It actually became a joke for us that we couldn't stand it anymore, but certainly the moment we left, we would start missing it. In fact, Fenua is now in my home, in my office and in my car. Any time I want to be taken away, this is the recipe!

Remake of their previous CD;s,

I bought this CD because I have two other Fenua CD's and I love them. But, I am disappointed with this one (Hymnes de Tahiti). Most of the songs or music are a remake of their older CD's. The second one was the best. I believe it was Fenua the Voyage.

Perfect CD to bring you back to Tahiti,

I bought this CD before we went to Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora for our honeymoon (early 07'). When we arrived in the islands, they played this CD at every resort we stayed at. It was perfect, I couldn't believe it! Whenever I need to feel like I'm back there, I just play this CD. Highly Recommend =)

Not What I Thought..,
By
This review is from: Hymnes De Tahiti (Audio CD)
I bought the cd thinking it would be more traditional Tahitian music, but found that it is in Tahitian but more hip hop than traditional. The musci is good, but I don't think I would have spent 30 dollars on the cd had I known it was not traditional. It would have been nice to have a review that explained this and a sample of the music. It plays in my collection, but not as much as my O Tahiti E cds.
