For Hymn lovers old and new, April 13, 2004
This CD has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. It is appropriate for just about anyone who enjoys Christian music and wants to listen to some hymns. The songs are the ones you would find in your hymnal, including the basic tune. It is easy to sing along with, mellow enough to worship introspectively, but upbeat at the same time. There are some flourishes and such, but 4Him sticks to the way the composer wrote the song. People who might enjoy this title: The quiet worshiper-most of the tracks on the album are mellow enough that you could play them in the background while you meditate on the Word or spend time in prayer. The reminiscer-All of the hymns on this album would be classified under the "oldies but goodies" that you won't usually find at a church that doesn't sing out of the hymnal. The interested-do you go to the type of church listed above, but would like to learn some new (to you) hymns? This is a good place to start. People who like 4Him-they've got another winner of an album! *****Final Thoughts***** This is an album that can be enjoyed by anyone who likes or is interested in hymns. Yes, its a pop group, but they don't warp the hymns to fit their style. They take their style and let it flow through the hymns. Whether you can't stand pop music, or you wish that hymns weren't so boring, this is the one for you!
