Needs to be reissued!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hymns & Voices (Audio CD)
I bought the cassette several years and have worn it out. Now I find the CD is unavailable! If you come across this CD anywhere, buy it. Even if you aren't a gospel music fan, the depth of feeling each artist displays is very moving. Traditional hymns take on new life with updated musical arrangements. And the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir rocks on How Great Thou Art. Trust me, you'll be singing along too!

Excellent way to introduce teenagers to an uplifting message,

I am so excited about this CD that I want to buy multiple copies and send it to all my friends and family. They have mixed some new songs with a wonderfully positive christian message about Jesus with some revised renditions of traditional hymns. The upbeat versions of 'Holy, Holy, and Holy' and 'All Hail the Power of Jesus Name' is great to introduce your teens to and will make you rise to your feet and DANCE in glory to God! The final track of HOW GREAT THOUGH ART is not to be missed! Gospel in foundation, uplifting in spirit! Buy this CD, you will not regret it!!!

A truly worshipful experience,

No matter how familiar you are with these hymns, you will delight in the contemporary renderings found here. Those expecting a more traditional treatment may be initially put-off, particularly by the R&B version of "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name", but repeated listening convinced me of the effectiveness of these alternate stylings. Steve Green's two contributions are stand-outs. I expected to enjoy "The Old Rugged Cross" (my grandfather's favorite hymn), but I was really impressed with "All Creatures of Our God and King". It is amazing how fresh and meaningful this centuries-old hymn can sound. I recommend this CD to those who would like an introduction to the rich heritage of Christian hymns since few of the selections are under a hundred years old.
