If you are playing on the PS4, you'll need to plug the headphones into the included USB extension and then into the actual PS4 if you want to be able to mute your mic. Otherwise, if you just plug the straight headset into the PS4 controller, there is no way to control the mic/volume.
The headset comes very well wrapped, includes a mesh bag to house it for travel, and does include a few small, easily lost pieces. The headset fits entirely around my ears, and does a really good job blocking out outside sounds (almost a problem!). I prefer the faux leather ear muffs to the fuzzy ones, maybe I'll change my mind in the winter. Overall it is very light, sound quality is very crisp and wonderful- I've heard from friends that my microphone is also very crisp. I use this primarily for gaming, but I think this headset would be ideal for noise-cancelling/listening to music on an airplane or something.
For me- it was definitely worth the price. Very high quality and I expect it to last a long time.
I had someone ask so here:
The cord in total is about 320 cm (10'8"), on that the mute controls are about 110cm (3'7") from the headphones themselves. It's very very long in my opinion! I'm going to try to add another picture.
Memory Foam Comfort is no joke... it's incredible! This isn't just not-uncomfortable like most headsets, it actually feels rather pleasant.
Sound Quality is great, no cracking or interference like wireless headsets have (this is wired don't be mistaken)
Set-up... What setup? Plug and play, no bulky software needed (I'm looking at you Logitech/Razer...)
Remote is great. Buttons for volume *and microphone* volume up and down, as well as mic mute.
High quality packaging
"7.1" audio seems like a gimmick entirely. It seems to just make things sound "boomy". However, I don't think this is a big deal, because the audio is just fine on this as it is
Microphone position isn't as flexible as some others... again, I don't think this is a big deal at all
The mic mute isn't quite as handy as if it was mounted on the headset itself
After my Logitech G930 died, I decided I needed a new headset. I was tired of all the crackling, interference, and disconnects that plague the G930s. I also hate the stupid software on them, as well as the Razer version for my BlackWidow keyboard. They never seems to work perfectly, and end up getting in the way or failing at the worst times. After searching for a long time, I finally decided to give this headset a try. I'm not a particularly huge fan of HyperX... I seem to have developed a negative connotation in my mind for them making off-brand low-quality parts.
Boy was I wrong.
I took this out of its box, and was surprised a bit by the weight. Most headsets are INCREDIBLY lightweight, but this has a quality construction feel, while still being light.Read more ›
It is a very affordable and excellent stereo headset for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One (if you have the adapter Microsoft sells separately). Please note that the Xbox 360 is not supported with this headset. It also works with mobile devices and as a comparison to just regular ear buds, it's definitely a step above.
Included with the headset are:
- A spare pair of ear cups so listeners can choose between cloth or faux leather.
- USB controller cord with volume control for headset and mic and a button to activate 7.1 Surround Sound.
- The detachable microphone, which plugs in via a port covered with a rubber bit.
- A dual 3.5 jack adapter.
- A bag to carry all of these things in. Probably good to use when you take the rubber bit out for the microphone, should you wish to keep it.
7.1 virtual surround sound is quite nice. The upgrade for the HyperX Cloud II is the addition of 7.1 simulated surround sound via a new USB sound card.. Quite capable of panning around the user without running into the dreaded virtual surround dead zones, and should you ever be annoyed by positional audio, it can be turned off with the press of a button.
Conclusion: If you are looking for a great low cost 7.1 audio capable headset, the HyperX Cloud II is an awesome choice! It is comfortable and lite enough to wear for extended gaming sessions without any discomfort. The HyperX Cloud II is a great headset as it is. One thing I would love to see in possibly a HyperX Cloud III - Kingston getting a wireless version! Regardless, this is highly recommended and is a perfect replacement over the first version!Read more ›
