Not what I thought,

My dog had this frisbee gone in about 5 minutes, not as tough as I thought it would be.

The FrostBite disc is great! It gets really cold here - below freezing almost every day in the winter - and this disc has not cracked like others we have bought. It's not as sturdy as the K-10 Jawz disc which we also have and love (this one does have some teeth marks) but it is easier to throw than the Jawz and is still in one piece. We have 2 labs so toys definitely get chewed. This product holds up very well.
An update - it's a year later and we are still using this disc!

Best when used below freezing,

When I first got this disc I was eager to try it out. It is much lighter than the JAWZ disc but it is definitely intended to only be used when the temperature is below freezing. I used it once with temps. in the low 40's and my 42lb Border Collie put puncture marks in it and made the edges jagged. It is light and flies nice though. So when the temp. dropped I brought the disc back out and now there are no new marks! The company is right, it does stiffen in cold weather but is too soft at warmer temps to be used by the average dog.

Best Frisbee for cold climate and dogs teeth~,

I saw a bad review on this frisbee and had to put my two cents in. This is the best frisbee for your disc dog if you live in a cold climate!
I started out my border collie on the frost bite *pup* discs and 4 years later STILL there is one in the air! Although we now use the bigger frostbite discs most often, our disc dog still finds his *baby disc* and is insistent on you putting it in the air. These discs have been out in severe weather, buried underneath snow for entire seasons, stuck in the creek under ice, whammed into trees, ran over by 1 ton trucks, and caught countless times by a tireless border collie and still have top performance. Also they are very, very, very easy on pups/dogs teeth, no *snapping* of hard plastic! If you have a dog that chews instead of catches and retrieves discs... then try the jaws discs also from Hyperflite~ you won't be disappointed! Worth every red cent! UPDATE: Spring 2011: 2 years later and I am ordering K-10 discs again for the simple reason as the last ones got lost. We still find one once in a while and it still will take flight, but the disc dog insists on taking it with him everywhere and then he forgets it (e.g. lake, neighbors, off on a run). His *baby disc* has not been located yet this spring, and I fear the worst. (we purchased 6 years ago)... To help anyone interested in Hyperflite discs: These are for THROWING/CATCHING not for CHEWING although these particular discs will put up with lots of marks from catching, carrying, and from your bad throws, they are not designed for a constant gnawing~it's not a BONE it's a DOG DISC. If you have a dog that just wants to chew, check out more from Hyperflite they have all kinds of cool stuff available! Disc Design: Perfect. This disc is specifically designed for harsh climates and is shatter-proof. Is always flexible and soft enough for your hairy buddy's teeth no matter what the temperature is. My pup is now almost 7, has no broken or chipped teeth and plays with these discs almost on a daily basis. Disc Performance: AWESOME! These babies will fly as far as you can throw them~ can make the not-even-close-to-professional look like the champion your dog thinks you are... holds a nice steady flight without fail every single time. Value: Please... haha... I have had some of these very discs last for years with my border collie using them daily. Well worth $6. Also, these come in two colors, white and orange. We prefer the orange so we can see where the heck these things are going vs. having the white blend in with snow, etc. P.S. No, I do not work for these folks... no, I'm not affiliated in any way! I am just a very satisfied customer! |
