Book Description

September 10, 2002
In a time when the U.S. military is shrinking, our leaders are turning to high technology as a force equalizer. America has not had a new hand-held rifle since the M16 was introduced in the 1960s. Now there’s a new gun ready to take its position as the NATO standard. A gun so sophisticated, so fast, so unbelievably accurate, it will turn the average shooter into an expert marksman almost instantly. The problem is, it was developed by a German company with no U.S. production contract.

That’s where Warfield Arms, a Denver gun company, enters the action. Warfield hires Chad Hunter, a private weapons designer who had worked for the German company, to go to Germany to convince the company that Warfield is the perfect partner. To sweeten the deal, Hunter must first convince Frank Baldwin, a struggling optics engineer from Wyoming, who has developed the most advanced rifle scope ever conceived, that his scope would be the perfect match for this new German rifle. With the scope as bait, the Germans would surely deal.

What Hunter and Baldwin find in Germany during the middle of the Oktoberfest celebration, could just get them both killed. Other countries and private factions would like this new weapon, and some in Germany want it only for that country. There’s murder, kidnapping, extortion, and shoot-outs.... Who said the end of the Cold War wouldn't be any fun?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Thriller!, August 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hypershot (Paperback)
Having been to Munich many times, I could see the places the author took me on this wild thriller ride. There are so many twists and turns and fast-paced action, I was breathless at the end of this great thriller. I don't know who this Trevor Scott is, but I will go back and read his other thrillers now that I have discovered his work. Highly recommended...as long as you don't have a pacemaker!

4.0 out of 5 stars ENJOYABLE READ!, December 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I purchased this book, there were only three reviews. Two of these reviews were five-stars, and final one was only given a single-star. I've recently read a couple other Trevor Scott books, and couldn't see how anything written by this same author could possibly warrant one star. I found the story interesting enough that I didn't notice any errors within the text. I'm happy to have found this author, and this will most assuredly not be the last book by Mr. Scott that I read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Thriller!, December 23, 2011
This is the second Trevor Scott thriller I have read in the past few days. Wow! As a former college professor of English, I found the writing both literate and approachable to the average reader. Scott stacks up nicely to Ian Flemming, Jack Higgins and Ludlum. Hypershot won't win the Booker Prize, but I found the grammar and diction on par with anything published by the major New York publishing houses. I now have a new friend in the thriller genre, and will purchase all of Trevor Scott's other titles.
