Passion Press has methodically built up a sizable catalogue of erotica audio titles, including short fiction compilations and the noted Cyborgasm series (all available on cassette or CD). The independent publisher ventures into new territory with this "sensual imaging" program, which employs the time-honored audio self-help technique of guided imagery to provide the listener with a self-arousal aid (and it's not just for men, Hypnography for Women is also being released). A woodwind tone pulses rhythmically, then a woman's voice comes on, soothing and cajoling, suggesting that the listener feels weights on his limbs, that he is being numbed by an anesthetizing gas. Next a ghostlike voice is introduced, a "female spirit" offering an "orgasm pill." She describes a sex act being performed on the listener; since a hypnosislike state should have been achieved by now, he is told, finally, that "it was the most incredible orgasm you've ever had." Though relatively meager and silly overall, this program nonetheless deserves credit for stretching the definition of self-help audio. (Apr.)

Although Hypnography for Men, was created for entertainment, Jean Mon, a New York City based psychotherapist specializing in sexual issues, says "the CD's use of positive sexual imagery may be useful for men experiencing lack of arousal. It is also a very innovative safe-sex tool."

Ms. Mon specializes in sexual issues and substance abuse. She is a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Certified Rational Sexual Therapist and is a member of the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists. An outstanding educator and lecturer, Ms. Mon is an adjunct faculty member at C.U.N.Y. She is Chair of the National Association of Social Workers, New York City Chapter of the Committee on Alcoholism and Chemical Dependency and has published an article for their journal on sexuality and chemical dependence. Ms. Mon is a well-loved media personality who hosted the WEVD-Radio call-in program "Let's Talk About Sex." She has been featured as a sexual expert on such topics as impotence, intimacy and sexual addiction on many programs including Fox-Television's "Good Day New York," MSNBC's television news and Fox Cable's television news. I admit I was somewhat skeptical when I first ordered, but now I'm convinced. I have listened to Hypnography for Men three times so far, and every time I listen, the effect is stronger! I'm amazed. I am purchasing Hypnography for Women for my girlfriend now.

I purchased/downloaded a copy from Audible.Com. It was MUCH better than I expected. It was extraordinary. It's a wonderful experience. It can truly show you the power of your mind. If you're even mildly curious, get it and do it. You'll be glad you did.
