This review is from: Hypnosis in Pediatric Practice: Imaginative Medicine in Action (DVD)
This DVD offers an interesting documentary about hypnosis in a pediatric practice. It explains the conceptual basis for hypnosis of children and some of the uses of child hypnosis in a clinical setting. I expected the DVD to be an accompaniment for the book and to demonstrate techniques for child hypnosis and it does not do that. As a documentary it is a good explanation, but I was disappointed because I thought it was an instructional video. Hypnosis for children is an extremely important adjunct to clinical work and it is clear from the interviews that Dr. Sugarman is a gifted caregiver for children. Any contribution that helps clinicians understand the value of hypnosis in helping children is a worthwhile addition.
