About the Author
Van R. Ault is a Clinical Hypnotherapist, certified by the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. His explorations with trance began at the age of twelve, when he began studying and practicing self-hypnosis. Over the years, he has studied and practiced professionally in massage therapy and a variety of healing and intuitive arts. Yet he has found his experience with The Radiance Technique(R), which he has studied to The Fourth Degree, to be the most moving of all.
Van received a B.A. from the University of San Francisco in Communication Arts and has worked within the publishing field to bring clarity, inspiration, and common sense to the understanding of nonreligious, creative forms of spirituality. His writing on these subjects has appeared regularly in "Magical Blend" magazine and other publications since the 1970s. As an instructor, Van offers his own courses in intuitive and spiritual development, and has taught through such organizations as the Intuitive Hypnotherapy Institute in Berkeley, California, and Northen Lights Alternatives. He currently divides his time between writing, teaching, and consulting with a diverse clientele, and resides in San Francisco.
About the Photographer: Anne Hamersky is a freelance photographer based in San Francisco. Her work has appeared in such publications as the "Los Angeles Times," the "San Francisco Examiner," and "Interview" and "Meditation" magazines. In the 1980s, Anne worked with Van Ault at the "San Francisco Sentinel," illustrating many of his articles on holistic health and metaphysics, subjects in which she also had a long-standing interest. "Photographing people offers me a chance to enter into other worlds of being and states of mind," says Anne. "This is always true of working with Van. For the Radiance project, he set up a wonderful energy space for us to work in. It was a blast."

I have studied the complete 7 Level System of Reiki as well as Hypnotherapy so I had high hopes for this book. I am a believer in Reiki being practiced in its true form without being mixed with any other modalities within a session, however I was still interested in how the author was combining them. Unfortunately there was little to nothing to take away from the book. I really wanted to enjoy it!
