1.0 out of 5 stars Not as helpful as I would have hoped, September 14, 1999

As I began this book I had hoped to get information about the causes, treatments and dietary advice for someone diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I was disappointed that this was not the information I felt the book delivered. The book failed the reader in explaining hypoglycemia. It provided alot of antecdotal evidence to support its claims. In addition much of its advice was undoable by the average person - it included suggestions to use only full spectrum light, avoid the use of microwave ovens, eat only fertile eggs and drink only raw milk. I am eager to control my hypoglycemia but couldn't help but wonder at the validity of much of this advice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Someone FINALLY Understands !, May 10, 2000
By A Customer
Hypoglycemia is very misunderstood amongst the medical community. It is just not taken as seriously as perhaps it should be. I think hundreds of people are misdiagnosed, and reading a book like this is exactly what the doctors and those who suffer from this need.

I have been suffering from hypoglycemia for as long as I can remember -- going through changes and visiting doctors. I have been treated for nearly everything stated in the book at one time or another.

Now, that *I* understand and have shared this book with my doctor, I am FINALLY on my way to a better, more functional life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent Book!, January 10, 2004

This review is from: Hypoglycemia: The Classic Healthcare Handbook Completely (Paperback)
There seems to be some disagreement in the reviews of the validity of this book. The foundation of this great book is the over "sugarization" of the American diet that is truly causing havoc to American health. I understand her positions on free range chickens, full spectrum light etc to get the most healthful food product. IMHO that is just a bit beyond the average busy person's time/tolerance for food shopping and preparation. The greatest value by far of this book is it's exposure of hypoglycemia as a serious health problem and its excellent breakdown of how to properly interpret the results of the glucose tolerance test. The disorder of hypoglycemia goes beyond "just having low sugar". Hypoglycemia ties to and creates a very large number of health and personality problems and this book documents that fact exceedingly well. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is overweight, diabetic (or going there),is depressed, has anxiety attacks, or just plain intersted in understanding why low carb is so popular and why it works.
