"Celestial Completion" Album Trailer

There are a lot of things one must understand about BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE in order to fully appreciate their music, and all of them can learned from the band’s mascot: Clifton the Beardskull.

One, the Atlanta, GA quartet are metal through and through. Two, BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE take their music very seriously, but maintain a sense of humor. And three, they’re not afraid to ... Read more in Amazon's Becoming the Archetype Store

Editorial Reviews

Solid State Records veterans Becoming The Archetype are back and ready for more with their fifth studio album, I Am. Becoming The
Archetype have become legends in the metal scene with their ferocious riffs and searing vocals, and I Am will be sure to please both old
and new fans alike. Produced by Shane Frisby, the band continues to explore the limits of experimentalism with piano, horns, and vocals
that will only take Becoming The Archetype to the next level. Becoming The Archetype continues to tour heavily in preparation
for I Am, and they will continue to plays shows throughout the rest of the year. Fans of Between The Buried And Me, Rosetta, and
Dimmu Borgir will welcome Becoming The Archetype s latest release with open arms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christian Death Metal Titans Return In Masterpiece Fashion September 18, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
Becoming the Archetype returns to show the kids how it's done. With a brand-new lead vocalist, a whole new seat of background singing vocals (something BtA fans are used to ever since "The Physics of Fire") and enough heavy tonnage to crush every bone in your body; these guys do not mess around. And they DO NOT disappoint.

I AM is easily one of the most anticipated and heavy-hitting Christian metal albums of the year, and this beast devours the death metal scene in fine fashion, while keeping to that melodic touch, poetic streak and God-praising intricacy that Becoming the Archetype is known for. Striking a homerun, I AM scores in all the areas that matter.

It is extremely heavy, deep growl-infused, clean-vocal singing prone when it matters, and shines through with lyrics that any other band would kill for.

Like albums past, the spotlight is on our Lord at all times, and Christian meatlheads will NOT go away empty handed. No, they will be headbanging down the street and into next year with this killer. The lyrics, I'm extremely happy to say, are the definite high-point in what is overall an incredible album from beginning to end. The intellectual meat is very thick on these bones. Just how BtA fans like it!

For a breakdown of each song and further elaboration, please visit watchusplaygames dot com.

Here's a few words about each song:

Song #1: The Ocean Walker
I'm the type who loves albums to start off with a BANG. As such, this song left something to be desired.

Song #2: The Time Bender
Now this is IT! This song is flat out awesome in every single way possible. It not only melts the brain with awesomeness, but it gives you potent, intellectual words to chew on.

2.0 out of 5 stars The review from Jeremy Olsen October 18, 2012
By MFJake
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
is the review I agree with most. I found this band from Dichotomy and I still run through that album from start to finish, repeating 10 or 12 times before I need to hear something else for a little while.

After hearing about all the lineup changes, this band has no original members in it and really is not Becoming The Archetype anymore. You can hear that fact in every single aspect of this album. The clean vocals are really disheartening, sounding a little nasally and as though he can not decide if he wants the gutteral growling or As I Lay Dying type clean vocals. The album is bass muddled, which overpowers all other spectrums. Previous albums have had an aspect of creativity and progression that is unorthodox but still catchy and likable, and as the other review said this album has gone almost completely metalcore. It is heavy only because it is fashionable.

The former lead singer stated that he left the band because it was not about the love of music anymore and you can hear this loud and clear in this album. I will give them the benefit of doubt that maybe the label was pressing them hard for a finished product and this is the result.

Past BTA albums have been something that I can take pride in listening to, but this album turned me away a little bit. I am already looking to the next album to see if some of the critiques have been taken to heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Album #5 or A Debut? Good question. December 29, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Have you ever seen the TV show "Overhaulin"? An old car is completely taken apart and in 7 days the car has been "overhauled". Typically the only original part kept from the old car is the frame. In a sense that is what we have with BTA and I AM. Count Seth (the frame) is the only original part kept, as the band has been completely overhauled. This is where the metaphor ends. The previous BTA wasn't old and worn out like the cars on the TV show. This is a difficult review because like my review title says, I'm not sure this is album #5 or a debut album by a new band. I'm inclined to say it is the debut of a new band. They are not the same band, but more like a 1st cousin. It's not a bad thing. Would we want four new band members trying to imitate BTA? No, that's a recipe for disaster. I wish Seth would have just given this new band a new name. However, Seth did infuse some great BTA into I AM. Formerly a 30 year resident of the Chicago area I'm reminded of two great Chicago pizza places: Lou Malnati's, and Gino's East. Both are great, both are benchmarks of famous Chicago style pizza, but they have differences from one another that make each unique and delicious. I love them both, but I'm partial to Malnati's. Where am I going with car shows and pizza? I love both old and new BTA. The new BTA is similar, building off the same frame (Seth), but take some different paths as they build off that frame. Old BTA often added new things with each album, but you still knew it was BTA. I AM takes a step beyond that feeling of something new. I'm not talking about pioneering new musical ground, just new as it relates to BTA. With I AM a line has to be drawn. From now on we have to look at two separate eras in the life of the band. It wouldn't be fair to lump it all together. Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Whatever This Is April 13, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I like it, I like it a lot. This group is talented on, dare I say it, so many levels. I don't regret this purchase in any way.

Praise Jehovah and give thanks for His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ who's name literally means Jehovah is salvation, also meditate on what the Bible says about Jesus - "For [the death] that he died, he died with reference to sin once for all time".
