4.0 out of 5 stars Skeptics beware
Of course I wanted to dislike this album and why I purchased it over the new depeche mode album, I may never know. However, am I disappointed? No. Actually, I got just what I was looking for. Fluffy poppy punk that I can sing to and laugh about. God knows I need it with all the everyday BS in the world. The second track In Another Life is well worth the ticket price and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ashlee simpson - mastering the art of formulaic, manufactured pop
Some people make music to forget about their problems. they write songs to heal, and hope that other, like minded listeners can take something away from their words. Others make music for fun, music you can dance to, or mosh to in your room. Most people make genuine music that they, in their heart of hearts, want to make. Ashlee simpson is not most people.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ashlee simpson - mastering the art of formulaic, manufactured pop, October 19, 2005
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
Some people make music to forget about their problems. they write songs to heal, and hope that other, like minded listeners can take something away from their words. Others make music for fun, music you can dance to, or mosh to in your room. Most people make genuine music that they, in their heart of hearts, want to make. Ashlee simpson is not most people.

If you weren't already disgusted by her lipsync fiasco on SNL, the one where she later blamed her band, they you haven't been paying close enough attention. these individuals (her backing band) were nothing more than underpaid, background effects for ashlee's spotlight wh.or.ing, and yet they were the ones made to take the fall, remaining on stage right up until that lifesize photo of jude law hit your television screen. Hatred, anger, confusion, ashlee's "fanbase" had become nothing more than thousands of angry pre-teens calling for a boycott. So, she did exactly what her record label wanted her to do and dropped off the face of the earth, but not for too long.

People don't usually forget something major. They can try, replace those thoughts with something new, but in the end, they'll take it to their graves. No one forgot about what happened with Ashlee Simpson, but her record label doesn't give us credit for memory. "Another appearance on SNL, a brand new look, and a revamped sound are enough to replace those old thoughts, trust us" said maverick. *We don't trust you*.

In the end, it's up to us as the consumer to finally end the "career" that ashlee simpson has so feverishly reconstructed. She was done people, and rightfully so, because no one should be lied to if they take the time to buy your records and go to your shows. Don't buy this record, don't listen to ashlee simpson, don't request her songs, and DO NOT keep feeding into this crap! I'd almost tell you to buy a backstreet boys record instead, only because they're atleast half-way real. Anyone can lipsync into a microphone, including you, so what sense does it make to support someone who gets paid to do something ANYONE else could do?

P.S. the fanboys will probably be all over this review because ashlee "redeemed herself by *singing* on her second SNL appearence". Well guess what, she couldn't hold a note to save her life. Further proof that she has NO talent. Thanks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Proof of 'The Dumbing Down Of America!', October 22, 2005

Ashlee Simpson makes Milli Vanilli look like venerated Grammy deserving world class artists! She is living proof that empty, formulaic overly commercial tripe that passes for music is being released by record companies that market this junk to malleable, brainwashed kids who don't know the difference between good music and the garbage that is Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Britney Spears, etc. The sad thing is that Ashlee will ride this mediocrity train until her popularity wanes due to some other corporate whored teen schlock star comes out! How sad indeed.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
First of all I'm dissapointed to see that people who bought this album bought Fiona Apple long-awaited and acclaimed "Extraoridnary Machine", which by the way would make a MUCH better purchase than this.

Now on to Ashee herself. She's back, and trying harder than ever to be "herself". What a load of crap. We are supposed to feel sorrow for this girl because she made an embarssment of herself on national TV? I refuse to sit back and support an artist who can't even sing her own music when there are 1000's of talented artists who would love some exposure. But no, she's shoved down America' s teenage girl's throats.

"Boyfriend" could possibly be the worst first single I've heard from a recent pop princess, just horrible melody, maybe some of the worst lyrics of 2005.

1.0 out of 5 stars She is her- who else would take credit for this Cd?, November 16, 2005
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
Ashlee Simpson surprised us all after her tape recorded goof on Saturday Night Live- she put out another record! The younger sister of Jessica Simpson follows up her "Autibiography" cd with another helping of teen tunes that will be coming to an Abercrombie & Fitch near you soon. The cd cover sports a somber Simpson photographed in sepia tones and shadows falling on her cheek that resemble tears. We should be the ones crying.

Overall Ashlee mines several musical genres to create an album that really is an awful mess. Lead single "boyfriend" apes Gwen Stefani's No Doubt days but with out the sass or attitude to back up the lyrics. We get treated to faux Reggae on the annoyingly catchy "L.O.V.E." where as the title suggests, Ashlee spells the word Love over and over. So much so that it sounds like she is singing "Ello! Ello!" in a fake British or Aussie accent.

On another track Ashlee tries to mimick a raspy Sheryl Crowe belting a chorus in which she proclaims "Here I am, looky pretty for you." Ashlee, you needn't have bothered.

Teen tikes will no doubt eat this packaged pop TV dinner disaster up but ultimately this will be another one of those cds cluttering up the .25 cent cd bin. By then miss Simpson will have made her money and the 250,000 people who bought this album its first week of release else will have to lie about having never owned this cd. Disposable pop from a disposable singer.

i have to admire her teeny bopper fanbase with all of their ''best record ....EVAH!!!!!!!'' and ''she, likes, totally ROCKS!!!!!'' nonsense.thats what kids do.kids also are known for swallowing foreign objects, getting sent to detention, plastering posters of everyone they see on tv in their bedrooms, abbreviating ''the'',standing outside of the TRL building yelling their heads off,you know...really dumb stuff.now i think the kids have made ashley their mission.her and the kids deserve eachother, only kids can relate to such horrible sounding nonsense.''i am me''..........members of MENSA must be scratching their heads over such a brilliant title.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well No Duh!!, October 18, 2005

I am me? Wow what a deep title. Then I guess that makes you.....you yeah that's it. Listen people how much more of this fake crap can you take? It seems like fan's of this worthless "Semi" pop star don't care that Ashlee uses "Enhancements" to make her voice sound better. I'm sure she still does live too. Listen I watched her show I saw how bad a singer she is. The computer used to correct her voice must of blown up a couple times during the making of this CD. Listen I'm not dumb Catch Me When I Fall is a great example of this. Do you really think she can hit those high notes? I don't think so. I even watched her dumb MTV special and it was clear she still uses a backing track. But listen people, here is the bottom line. Ashlee doesn't write her own stuff. She "Co-wrote" songs on here. That means some 40 year old dude gave her songs and she added a line or two to make it sound like her own. To me that sounds like a High School student going online and taking a paper that someone else wrote and then changing some words around to make it sound more like them. Don't waste your time, the whole simpson family is worthless but at least Jessica can sing.

1.0 out of 5 stars If You Buy This CD I Would Reccomend Getting A Therapist With Impeccable Credentials, November 21, 2005

While on the couch you need to really think about your life. How often you go out, what your expectations are for yourself and how things got so poor that you actually bought this piece of garbage from this talentless piece of mediocrity. I just saw her perform L.O.V.E. on David Letterman. Her "singing" over backing tracks and trying to look sassy shaking her growing hips courtesy McDonalds was pathetic. Speaking of McDonalds I wish I was at the one in Toronto where she tried to get a customer to kiss her feet for a picture so that I could have spat on her in a gesture of unity between the United States and Canada. An act of atonement apologizing for our nation creating this garbage and then inflicting it on our neighbor to the north. I'm sure they'd rather have bird flu infected chickens in every major city than have Ashlee continue to tour up there.

1.0 out of 5 stars TOTAL CRAP, October 25, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
Ashlee Simpsom cannot even carry a tune people!!! She isn't even a blip on the radar. She is the infiant nothing. She is a awfule 'artist'. She will never be anything more than the TALENTLESS annoying baby sister sister of Jessica. Did anybody else notice(besides me) that she is a poser? Sure, Ashlee wants to be this tuff, hard, punk, 'biker chick' with her first dreadful CD, and now all of a sudden, her song "boyfriend"(which is overkilled on MTV) is less of a 'I'm a puck' image and more of a 'I think I'll try be good, to improve my floundering 'career' image' Ashlee is a frog. every time she trys to ATTEMPT to cary a musical' note, her voice cracks(when she ACTUALLY is SINGING HERSELF) that is. Ashlee SUCKS!!!! I can only cross my fingers the today's youth will grow a brain cell(and an ear for music while they're at it)...the rest of America and the world will have to suffer another album or two or so, and then...Our Ashlee won't be on Bilboard anymore, but on THE SURREAL LIFE with fellow poptart XXX-Tina gagulara. Bottom line, STEAR CLEAR of this mess of an album.

1.0 out of 5 stars Blonde again...but still talentless, October 24, 2005
By
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
This 2nd album of hers is infact slightly better than her first. You can actually listen to this one without having blood run from your ears...or at least on some of the tracks. She gets one star from me for changing the hair back to blonde... and for that reason alone. She's still arrogant sounding, still screaming rather than singing. She still whines that she doesn't want to be like her big sister... sad part is she never has to worry about that because Jessica actually has this thing called talent.
