Grade 2-6-Skater follows Emily Hughes-the younger sister of gold medalist Sarah Hughes-as she practices, performs at Madison Square Garden, and goes behind the scenes at Champions on Ice to meet some of the sport's top practitioners. Feldman's crisp photographs in both color and black and white showcase the child on the ice, at home with her family, and meeting with her skate and costume designers. One spread shows her illustrating specific skating moves, such as a layback and a butterfly jump. Similar in scope and format to Jill Krementz's A Very Young Skater (Random, 1979; o.p.), this book should be a popular addition to sports collections.

I have met Emily Hughes a few times. She is a lovely young lady who is one of America's brightest rising figure skating stars! This is a beautiful book chock full of great pictures. It is a must have for any little girl who has a dream...they can come true!

I bought this for my daughter when she was three thinking it looked like a kids book. Its not really. But it is written in a way that a very young child could enjoy it.

It has become my daughters absolute favorite book that she has to have read to her every single night! And she has also grown to love and admire Emily Hughes from this book. She gets so excited when she sees her skate now or just sees her on tv doing an interview. Great book lots of pics!

THIS BOOK WAS A GOOD BOOK FOR ME TO READ/EMILY HUGHES (THE YOUNGER SISTER OF SARAH HUGHES, 2002 WINTER OLYMPICS IN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH USA, LADIES SINGLES FIGURE SKATING GOLD MEDALIST), TO START HER CAREER WITH

I know I read last year, but its really good. You learn a lot from Emily, her stand point. This for kids, but parents you read this before you let your kids read it. Thank you.

Also recommended: Her sister Sarah Hughes, I Skate, by Margot Falkner (I forgot if thats her name, its out of print now), A Young Skater, by Jill Kientez (I think thats the title, I think spelt the author last name right, its also of print now)
