Golden Years,
By Melissa Hardie "mjh1963" (Potts Point, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Believe (Audio CD)
This cd was originally issued as the Golden Streets of Glory album in 1970. I can't fathom the reasoning behind the new cover which looks, from the photo above, totally unrelated to the music. And odd. The original album was illustrated with a picture of a pensive, big hair Dolly gazing out of a window to the Beyond, and she's rarely looked finer. That's a more fitting cover, because she's rarely sung more beautifully than on this album. I've been trying to decide on a favorite track, but I can't: they are all great. I cannot comment on the inspirational aspects of her performance, but her singing is sublime. If God could make me sing like this I'd believe in him too.I Believe is a cd to treasure: I've listened to it hundreds of times, and each time concluded that this is the most flawless of her many fine albums.

Beautiful,
This review is from: I Believe (Audio CD)
It's funny...the previous reviewer states how this album was originally issued on vinyl as "Golden Streets of Glory". Well the cd that I have is called "Golden Streets of Glory" and it does feature Dolly gazing out of the window with a big hairdo. Plus it has also been remastered which is nice. The songs are in a slightly different order to those listed here, but otherwise are exactly the same. I am not an overly religious person, but to listen to this album you do not need to be. They are uplifting songs that are bound to make you feel good. Highly recommended no matter what your religion. Your soul will thank you.

Interesting spotlight on Dolly's early achievements,
By A Customer

This CD is worth listening too. Dolly sings with such conviction and her voice is full of emotion especially on 'I believe'. I wish RCA would release other albums such as'The Bargain Store' (1975), 'Jolene' (1974), 'All I Can Do' (1976) on CD. These albums deserve to be heard again.
