Deserves To Be A Major American Superstar, July 25, 2005
Tata Young has the look and sound of a full-blown American pop diva. Three quarters of her album is single material, and most CDs released here can't even beat that. Every song is great, and deserves to be here.
1. Everybody Doesn't - A remake of Amanda's song. A catchy tune and cute lyrics make this one a perfect album opener. 9/10
2. Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy - One of the album's best. With sexy lyrics and a great pop tune, S.N.B. could be #1 on MTV easily. 10/10
3. I Believe - Another highlight. This gem has flawless vocals and a great chorus. TRL worthy. 10/10
4. Call Him Mine - At first I didn't like this song, but now it's one of my favorites. It's got an R&B sound to it, and happens to be Tata's favorite song off of the album. 9/10
5. Cinderella - All around great. This picks up the pace after Call Him Mine. In my opinion, this is the best version of the song. Remember it was also done by i5, Play, and Disney's The Cheetah Girls. 10/10
6. Lonely In Space - Lonely In Space has an interesting, "spacey" sounding intro, and the turns quickly into a catchy pop track. I don't know what the writers of this one were on, but the result was...different. 8/10
7. I Think of You - The first ballad. Lots of them can be slow and dull, but not this one! It's absolutley beautiful, and has hopeful, reassuring lyrics. 9/10
8. Bad Boys, Sad Girls - One of the best. Single material for sure. Something Britney would sing. I love the intro, and the chorus is a sassy slice of pop perfection. 10/10
9. Sorry Anyway - I absolutley love this song. It's got gorgeous lyrics and a flawless chorus. Amazing. 10/10
10. Crush On You - Wow, another great one. I love the upbeat tune and fun chorus. Meaningless, bubblegum-pop lyrics, but hey, sometimes we all need a song like this. 10/10
11. My World's Spinning - Not as great as the previous few songs, but still really good. I love the vocals. 9/10
12. I Want What I Want - Has an obnoxious title, but the song isn't that way. It's cute and fun, and sounds like something Hilary Duff might sing. 8/10
Overall, I Believe is an outstanding album, and deserves to be right up there with Britney, Christina, Jessica, etc. It's a shame it wasn't released in America and given a proper chance. Oh well, I suppose Tata has enough fans in Asia, since she has sold 12 million albums and all. Also check out her song/single Dhoom Dhoom.

Uber radio-friendly, January 3, 2005
I picked this album up at one of her showcases, half expecting it to be some slickly-produced, nicely-packaged fluffy pop album. It turned out to be a tad more than i'd bargained for. I granted this album a couple of repeats on my CD player, so did the people around me, possibly because the tracks are uber radio-friendly. For instance, Tata evokes sensuality on the track, "Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy": "...people think it's intimidating when a girl is cool with her sexuality... I'm a 180 to the stereotype girls like staying home and being innocent..."
The first few tracks are indeed the more noticeable ones on the album, including the title track "I Believe". If you're the occasional pop listener looking for a feel-good pop album, this is one album worth listening to.
