We were lucky enough to find this toy at a kindergarten teacher's yard sale for a mere $4. But it is the exact same one. Best purchase of the day. Our 16 month old son is obsessed with this puzzle! He sits in front of it for long periods of time, and will oftentimes lift up a letter and shout out what it is. He has memorized eight of the letters so far. If you say to him, "Ralphie, can you bring me the letter O, please?" for example, he will crawl over to the puzzle, and bring you that piece. (As long as it's one of the letters he already knows. Otherwise he will bring you the wrong one, which is a perfect learning opportunity to say "No, honey, that's a V. Where is the O?") He learns new letters this way, and won't stop playing this game for quite some time. When he gets one right he claps for himself. SO CUTE! Ralphie loves it. He even insists on sleeping with one of the letters at night, and has a few favorites that get that honor. So even very young children can enjoy this toy.
As for the item itself, It's HUGE! And really strong and durable. So colorful, and really wholesome. This is the best toy our child owns, regardless of how much we have spent on other things. This is the one he plays with the most, and has learned the most from. The retail price is pretty steep, but if something ever happened to ours, we would probably go ahead and pay full price for a new one. It really is worth it.

My son received this for Christmas when he turned 2. It is a large, heavy, solid puzzle with smooth pieces, made in the USA. He loves to play with it. The spelling cards he is just now getting into and has helped reinforce letter sounds as we build the words. Has also helped recgonizing his name in print. Such a great educational toy. This toy will become even more valuable once he has his sounds down and starts on CVC words in preschool. You can make your own cards too, to supplement and add sight and CVC words.
