5.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Wu, July 19, 2007
By Solty (Louisville, Kentucky United States) - See all my reviews
This killa bee takes it back to the days when Wu-Tang was on top. Hands down, this the best HIP HOP album to come out in 07. As soon as you put the disc in, you feel like you went back in time in the year 1994 when Wu-Tang ruled the airwaves. Method Man and Ghostface have come out with recent great albums, but they still did not contain that 100% whole-hearted Wu Tang sound throughout their album like this one.

The bonus dvd is interesting too. Watching the interview with Cilvaringz, you can tell this guy knows what's best and what the fans want out of Wu-Tang. Maybe his message will get through to the other members of the clan so that they can form together strong like Voltron. In the meantime, this cd should hold over the Wu-Tang fans of old.

5.0 out of 5 stars DAMN GOOD!, June 19, 2007
By G. Mendoza (Southside Chicago) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Being that I've been a Wu Tang fan since the jump off in 93', I've seen the ups and down of the legacy, ranging from Enter the 36 to now. I've heard most of the off springs albums, killa Army, Killah Priest, Black Knights, Royal Fam and so forth. But I've been waiting for Cilarings for a damn long time and it's here and it doesn't dissapoint. The original members are all over this album, no throwaway verses, Rza is hands on dealing with the production. Wu-Elements handling the bulk of the production, 4th diciple, mathematics. It's a album that you always wanted but probably gave up anticipating after boring wu tang release after another. Although Ghostface still delivers and so does Rae and Masta killa.

The only downside is that the DVD doesn't play in a regular formatted DVD player. I had trouble accessing it on my computer and my dvd player. So that that sucks. Other wise a solid purchase. Break out the 15 bucks for this one because it just thirst your appetite for the return of the wu tang later this year...SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars True Wu-Tang , March 6, 2008
On the album liner of Cilvarings' 1 is a disclaimer basically stating that guests appearing on the album do not necessarily agree with the political views stated by Cilvarings. This originally turned me away from purchasing this CD. I didn't want to be preached at by another uninformed musician about everything that is wrong with America, This and the fact that I was completely disappointed by the Wu Tangs 8-Diagrams debacle. I did a little research on Cilvarings and learned he is a Wu Tang affiliated MC from the Netherlands and of Moroccan decent, so I figured maybe he actually has something to say from a different perspective. I only hope that others can keep an open mind and give this up and coming killer bee a chance, you won't be disappointed.

Production on the album is handled by numerous talent's not to mention Cilvarings himself. The beats are classic Wu Tang, dark and raw. You can tell the RZA worked closely on this project as his influence is all over the album. Guest appearances from the original clan members abound, and lyrically Cilvarings holds his own outshining lesser known members. There is definitely a strong political message in most songs and whether you agree with it or not you have to respect his opinions. Cilvarings' passionate delivery and insightful lyrics are undeniable.

In classic Wu Tang style Cilvarings shines on collaborations kicking it off on the high energy RZA assisted "Wu-Tang Martial Expert". "Sheherezad My Beloved" is an amazing song about a significant other I respect anyone writing a song to thank those that have been most supportive of their career. "Death to America" is a very powerful message in spoken word while it may be controversial to some once again you have to respect the passion in which it is delivered. "In the Name of Allah" is a classic Wu Tang track and Masta Killa is impressive as always. The anger of this conscious emcee is apparent on "Jewels" a track providing commentary on the violence in Africa among other things.

I've been a diehard Wu Tang fan for years, I own basically anything related to the Wu from GFK to Killarmy, while there have been some impressive solo Wu releases as of late such as Ghostface to Masta Killa these artists have kept elements of the clan but have developed their own individual style. The Wu Tang Clan of "36 chambers" is no more but Cilvarings is the closest thing to the "Wu Tang" sound I have heard in a while. If you are a true Wu Tang fan like myself do not sleep on this release.
