Deathcore bands are a dime a dozen these days, but a few of them stand out from the homogenous collection of bands like Emmure and Impending Doom by placing more priority on the technical sensibility of death metal rather than the noisy hardcore attitude while still melding the two genres together in a neat, breakdown-ridden package.

A Different Breed of Killer (known hereafter by the less wordy acronym ADBOK), along with bands such as Suicide Silence and Winds of Plague, represent what deathcore at its peak, displaying raw aggression and vitriol with disturbing, almost childishly spiteful lyrics laced with sing-along choruses proclaiming the death of the old ways of the world.

These bands probably won't be too enjoyable for those who prefer compositional strength and musical coherence over music tailor-made for slam-dancing and mosh pits, but for times when pure atonal anger will do, ADBOK deliver grade-A destruction.

I, Colossus is a solid death metal release. As far as I can tell, this is the band's first release, and while it is nothing to freak out over, it is pretty good. I would actually rate it about 3.5 stars.
