Great Robotic Dog - Look At The Blue i-Cybie Reviews,
By Steven Koleman (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews

This is a terrific toy. I don't know why the Gold i-Cybie got the weaker reviews. If you want to see what people really thought, look at the reviews for the blue i-Cybie, which is the kind I have. There are lot more reviews and newer ones too. There is no difference between the gold and the blue except the color.
The i-Cybie can be trained to respond to your voice, it's movements are really clever and it's amazing what it can do with it's joints to do advanced tricks. As far as gear problems go, that was a known problem with the old i-Cybie which you will find on eBay for a lot cheaper. Unfortunately in the older models that gear would break rendering the unit useless. The newer models don't have that problem. Also, compared to other robot toys, the gears are quieter.

I got my i-cybie for christmas, and it came with a walk up charger (like Aibo). When I opened it up, I sawthat I need to charge the battery for 6 hours! Darn, I can't play with it yet. When the battery was charged I put it in, and turned it on. To my suprise, the i-cybie strech thing didn't use a lot of space. After an hour, I saw that it was still running fine. Now after a month with it, I like it.
If you want an Aibo, but don't have a lot of money, BUY AN I-CYBIE!!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Based on the description, I did not know whether the walk up charger was included, so I called Amazon and they told me that the charger included enables the i-cybie to walk up to it and recharge on its own without any human intervention.
When I received the package, I was shocked to see a standard charger which involves removing battery manually from i-cybie and putting in charger and vice versa. That was disappointing since a couple of websites were selling with walk up charger for very similar price. I am returning it and buying from shop.com which sells walk up charger as well.

the i-cybie is in competition with wow-wee robo-pet they are about the same but i-cybie has a advantage- the robo pet looks like a skeleton like dog but I-cybie has very cute looks plus it has replacable skin. the I cybie is a great toy (...)but I do not recomend this for children for ******8 and under******

The I-cybie is awesome so fun but takes 6-8 hours to charge. The first time i saw it was on amazon.com befor christmas. i had the money so i ordered it but i guess i messed up because i never got it. So i had to wait for the rest of december and january till i finally got it because my mom orderd it. when i got it i had to charge it and when it was charged i had to train it but i thought the i-cybie did more. but it still is fun you just have to get used to the buttons and speak clearly.
it is for ages 8 and up. i think i might be getting the walk up charge it is (...)the I-cybie walks up to it when it needs to get charged and lesves when it is done you dont have to do a thing exept plug it in and put it in a place your I-cybie can get to it.i hope you like your I-cybie as much as i do.

Bad Product,
This review is from: I-Cybie Robotic Dog - Gold (Toy)
My son received the gold i-cybie dog for Christmas. After charging it, we discovered it had what we think was a defective battery pack. We were able to return it and get another one only to have the exact same problem. This was a gift from his grandmother who thought it looked cool and thought my son would enjoy it. Had we been able to do some research on the toy ahead of time, we would have told her not to get it. Not only does it appear to be a waste of money but it also only causes hurt feelings and tears. The website given in the manual doesn't even list this toy as one of their products. (Big red flag there.) I agree with another reviewer-it is downright ROTTEN to distribute a toy at Christmas time with a KNOWN DEFECT and have no customer support for it. Shame on them.

Dead Dog,

This was a Christmas gift for our Son. The initial joy of i-Cybie is dampened by the fact that you must charge the battery for 6-8 hours before you can even turn the toy on. The remaining joy is drowned after waiting 8 hours on Christmas Day only to find out that the charger doesn't work; there is no company support; and that the charger problem is a well known fact in the industry. The i-Cybie website listed in the manual is "Under Construction" and does not offer any advice or contact information other than an e-mail form that you can fill out and hope for an answer.
We searched the internet and found out that the battery problem is well known and that customer service is nonexistant. So, we returned the dog to the store, and since there were no more in stock, we came home empty handed. If the battery was slightly charged, we would have been able to use the stand charger and been able to keep the dog. Being cheap and not charging a battery is one thing, but to send a toy out at Christmas time with a known defect that makes the toy inoperable is Nasty. Do more research on this product before you spend your money, time or special occasion memories on a bad company. Too bad, because I think that i-Cybie could have been a Good Dog.

I gave this toy to my son for Christmas. We were disappointed to find that the battery would not charge. The toy wouldn't work, and we are all disappointed.
