not enough excavators,

This review is from: I Dig Dirt (DVD)
My son likes basic construction trucks: excavators, bulldozers, front end loaders. This DVD focuses on several exotic, extremely large machines found at a coal mine: a large shovel that looks like Mary Anne in Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, a huge dump truck, and another shovel on a cable. If you want to see normal construction vehicles, get I Love Big Machines parts 1 & 2.

Must-have for your video collection (um, your KIDS video collection I mean),

I have the VHS version of this that I bought back around 2000. We got it for our first child, who loved playing in the dirt, and he was immediately hooked on it. Now, six years and 3 more kids later, I'm watching it for the 4000th time with my littlest one (2 years) and it's still great. We have boys and girls and it's one of two videos we own (the others are our Thomas the Tank Engine videos) that they've *ALL* loved. The songs are great and there's no actors or silly characters (unless you count Tim Roybell, the truck mechanic)... the people are just ordinary folks giving us a tour of the Jacob's Ranch and Black Thunder Mines in Wyoming.
As for the parents that are concerned about showing their kids videos of little guys playing around a backhoe, A) the kids read off a warning at the beginning of the video saying you should NEVER go around big machines without your parents, B) any time you see a child sitting on a machine they're with an adult, and C) you guys are being a *little* overprotective. From a guy who's around a lot of kids and have raised my fair share, here's a little advice: teach your kids to have some common sense, supervise them when necesary, and most importantly let them be kids. Hearing my little guy sing "I dig dirt" while he's in the sandbox playing with his dump truck is priceless to me!

We loved this video so much, we wore it out. We found it on DVD and watch it every night. My sons are five and 19 months and they both love it. Many of these videos can be cheezy and untolerable, but not this one. This is a great video and I would recommend it to all the little truck fans out there.
