5.0 out of 5 stars I & Dog
The Monks of New Skete have done it again. This beautiful book is a great gift for anyone who is a dog lover. I loved the photos of the beautiful dogs and their soulful adoring eyes. The text is beautiful and If possible I thought more of our best friend, the dog, than I ever did before.Their joy at playing especially with their owners, is contagious and comes at you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely and inspiring coffe table book
This is a lovely picture book with wonderful inspiring bits of writing interspersed which showcases the outstanding work the monks are doing with their dogs. However, those seeking hard-core how-to info on dog training will benefit more from the monks' other books: "How to be your Dog's Best Friend" and "The Art of Raising a Puppy."

5.0 out of 5 stars I & Dog - A nice coffee table book, July 9, 2004
This review is from: I & Dog (Hardcover)
I love this book. I have read their other books "The Art of Raising a Puppy" and "How to be your Dogs Best Friend" and "I & Dog" is a great compliment to them. It's perfect to have on your coffee table for guests, or just to pick up for reflection. The pictures are wonderful.

What a Beautiful Book. This is a Feel good and comforting book to read.
Upon getting it I got in my bed to look through it and my Faithful and loving Best Friend My German Shepherd crawled up beside me and layed there and fell asleep as I looked through the book, Well I did not put it down until I was finished with it. It is book that makes you want to be and do better than what you are now. I now will order more of the Monks of New Skete Books, I was very Impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with these monks, July 26, 2005
This review is from: I & Dog (Hardcover)
It seems the Monks of New Skete can do no wrong when it comes to writing great books. This book is of the inspirational variety, and contains some very thought provoking statements. I found myself thinking "duh; that is 100% true! Why didn't I think of it like that?" The photography is excellent also. Some very true words of wisdom can be found in the pages of I & Dog.

A great gift for any dog lover. While not hefty in size or word count, this book speaks volumes of truth about dogs and their relationship with people. The photographs, of the monks' german shepherd dogs and other, almost random canines, are both amazing and amusing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A warm and fuzzy dog book., September 6, 2005

This book, "I & Dog", makes one aware of the special relationship between dog and man. The pictures are fantastic and the tidbits of understanding are insightful. Investigating these photographs and contemplating these prose leads one to the realization that man is the one getting the lions share out of these relationships. This is a "warm and fuzzy" book. It just makes you feel good.

Walk among nature, especially with your dog, and watch how you become inspired and energized by this activity. The Monks of New Skete, authors of this thoughtful book show that animals can be a source of meditation based on their observations of the spiritual bond of love existing between pets and their owners. Quotations in the book can be used by anyone to meditate, contemplate, relax, open the heart center and slip through the gateways of heaven for a brief respite, then come back to earth, ready to cope with daily life.

For anyone who has shared a life with a dog, this book is a must read. The Photos are beautiful and display that special relationship which is possible between dogs and people. The reflections, especially the last one about hope, are cause for quiet meditation. All the better if your dog is near! This is a great book to share with fellow-dog lovers as a present.
