Most Unusual NEW AGE/XMAS Album EVER!,
This review is from: I Don't Want You Back (Audio CD)
Eamon has certainly done it again! His sophmore album takes soulful trance music in an entirely new direction. This time around, it's very clear that his time growing up as a white boy in South Africa has directly influenced his musical taste. The album begins with an introspective, yet curious take on traditional Judeo-Christian symbolism, namely the secularization of Saint Nicholas. This is demonstrated on his song, "I Love Them Ho's" as he joyfully sings about all the childhood times he spent on Santa's lap. Interestingly, he follows this up with another Xmas song, "[Fuck] It," in which his growing maturity develops a distaste for the crass commercialism of the season. This is expressed through such statements as "the presents, might as well throw 'em out." And once more, he heaps his scorn upon that ubiqutious 'Ho,' or, in this case, his favorite one-word euphenism for Jolly Ol' St. Nick, known for very often declaring, "Ho-Ho-Ho!" His lyrical expertise, however, takes a bizarre political turn as he begins to defend the policies of ex-president Richard 'Dick' Nixon, on his song, "Get Off My Dick." One could argue that his swift rap skills could be applied elsewhere, yet there is no denying the attention-getting subject matter of his song. All-in-all, this is a worthy follow-up to his last album. Eamon once again proves that he's everybody's favorite lovable hoilday rascal. And in fact, a little wink-and-a-nod, self-deprecation never hurts as he admits himself on the upbeat pop hit, "[I'd Rather Fuck With You]." It's nice to finally see a hit artist who doesn't take his own tough-guy, street-slumming, life-sucks-so-I-gotta-curse-about-it persona so seriously. Fo' shizzle, bro, here's rooting for another #1 hit!

I BOUGHT THIS CD THE DAY IT WAS RELEASED BECAUSE I REALLY LIKED THE NEW SINGLE, DONT WANT YOU BACK. COME TO FIND OUT, THAT IS THE ONLY GOOD SONG ON THE ENTIRE ALBUM. THIS GUY TALKS ABOUT HIS BODY PARTS MORE THAN EMINEM. I LOVE R&B AND RAP,BUT I'M NOT SURE WHAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER THIS ALBUM TO BE. HE DEFINITLY HAS SOME BUILT UP EMOTIONS. HEY EAMON! CAN I SUGGEST ANGER MANAGEMENT!!?? AND CAN I GET MY 13.00 DOLLARS BACK FOR THE PURCHASE?? I'LL JUST BURN THE SINGLE OFF THE INTERNET.

A Day In the Life Of A "Who?",

At first I thought it was a joke in the vein of the much-missed Biz Markie. The off-key singing, the doo-wop arrangement, the falsetto mmmm's & no no no's...but as I listened further it struck me - the tone-deaf slavering of this talentless anomaly is for real, only `keeping it real' means degrading his ex-girlfriend with a slew of insults even Marshall Mathers would blush at. And that's just the first single. Other unbelievable, unrealistic boasts include `I Love Them Ho's [Ho-Wop]' in which he breaks his groupie's hearts every time he leaves for the next show; `My Baby's Lost' has him doing his girl's best friend, then crying foul [and other `F'' words] when she dumps the fool; the ironically titled `Get Off My @#$*' and his too-bad-to-be-good attempt at a love song, `All Over Love'. Oh, yeah...the final track has him feeling groovy by sexin' all night waking up smoking the dope. Vulgarity is not the offense here, though, and neither is his stupidity. The transgression is his seeming belief that what he actually says is not only important, but smug and funny too. The smirking in these fantasies is best kept to his [very small] circle of sycophants, not divulged for all of TRL to see.
For all the oral fixations sputtered about, you wonder just how this pretty-enuff boy had to perform for at Jive for his contract. If pride runneth over at the offices at Jive, when he starts crooning `4 The Rest Of Your Life' to their daughters at the family picnic, make sure I'm there with my video camera. My grade: E+

I Don't Want You Back by Eamon,

Never did the phrase 'one hit wonder' apply more than it does here. "F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)", is this album's only shining star. The rest of the tracks are just copy cats, with painfully poor lyrics & absolutely no fluent melodies or rhythms at all. The truly sad part is, Eamon shouldn't have to end his career after just one song. He actually has a nice singing voice, but the problem is he has way to much artistic freedom, which unfortunatley has been the downfall of many talented new artists. Had Jive only taken more interest & hired gifted producers & song writers, things might have been different. Say hello to 2004's Lumidee, but also remember to say a quick goodbye very shortly thereafter.

Horrific. Truly horrific.,
This review is from: I Don't Want You Back (Audio CD)
I certainly hope this nasally Eminem wannabe isn't planning on being taken seriously, because this disc is far more of a joke than anything William Hung could pull out of his ass. Listening to Eamon's voice is like having your friend repeatedly tug on your sleeve and whine about how he got kicked in the balls. Loop that for forty-five minutes and you've got this album. How in God's name the atrociously obnoxious "F*** It (I Don't Want You Back)" was even noticed, let alone played, by radio is so utterly beyond me it's otherworldly. To add to the horror, Eamon makes all the typical errors of your average hip hop flop-cookie-cutter production, unceasing cussing for no reason whatsoever, farcical lyrics, beats not even worthy of Kidz Bop, and a vocalist that can't sing or rap his way out of a paper bag. Further turn-offs include the wait-I-can-still-prove-I'm-the-next-Eminem foolishness of "Controversy," the country ditty gone disturbingly wrong "On & On," (where he lets loose some croons even Adam Sandler would grimace at), "I Love Them Ho's (Ho-Wop)," (where he completely contradicts himself-he's b!tching about a hoe in his lead single and then shouts an anthem about how much he loves them here...?) in which he tells tales of his non-existent slew of groupies, and "Girl Act Right" where he's yet again complaining about some girl....or something....any and all interest was long gone at that point. I suppose if you're one of those young children who are just fascinated by the word `f***,' you'll be able to have some airy fun with Eamon's CD. But for the rest of us, who the hell would prefer Eamon's spoiled margarine to Eminem's butter?

The CD is ridicolous and embarrassing. I can only laugh and imagine How in THE HELL did he get a record deal, less more a hit on top 40 radio. I am so thankful that radio stations that I listen to don't play this garbage. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CD IT IS TRASH, WHICH IS WHERE IT BELONGS!

Whining and swearing,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: I Don't Want You Back (Audio CD)
"I don't want you back" really got into my head. Thats not to say it was a good thing - the only reason it gets stuck in your head is because its dull and derivative. It's like a little tune you could make up yourself and hum under your breath - not great material for a song. That was why I got the album - in the naive thought that if I listened to it enough it would get out of my head, or atleast I would be able to find another song more annoying to replace it. I have to say, the album isn't all that great. The songs are all just as dull and derivative as "I don't want you back" and most of them aren't even as catchy. Eamon's voice is average, if a little whiny. I wouldn't recommend it unless you want swearing, whining and more swearing - and if you want that I suggest you buy Eminem songs.

There's two sides to every story.,

Eamon is the first genuine one-hit-wonder artist of 2004. I stake my life on it. There is no way in hell this guy is gonna get another cd out there. I listened to the sound clips, and can't believe how bad they are. Just total crap. His voice is not fit for an entire cd of him spouting off as many swear words as he can. Does anyone take his street cred seriously?? Look at that cd cover photo. He looks like a child molester. I'm glad that Frankee, the second one-hit-wonder artist of the year got a chance to record her version of her side of the story. Either way, i'm sick of this whole thing. Why put a song on the radio anyway if you're gonna bleep out half the song due to the swearing. Having a clean version of this song for radio play is a joke anyway. The fact that Eamon's song even made it to pop radio is a sad statement on the sorry condition of today's crappy music. I'd be scared to meet anyone who rates this cd as five stars. They should be arrested for extreme lack of taste in music. If Eamon is a shining example of what Statin Island is putting out for music then i'll stay in Canada.
