Book Description

May 1997 10 and up
A nightmare comes true in this fast-paced thriller

The body lies on the dark grass, a man standing over it. And four-year-old Jere Robison, looking down from his bedroom window, denies -- and finally forgets -- what he has seen. Now, ten years later, a chance encounter with a strange man brings back a disturbing dream -- and the possibility that Jere has encountered the killer again. His classmate Avery, girl of his waking dreams, agrees to help him find out. It's almost a game, until one night when the man follows Avery home.... Crackling suspense highlights this compelling page-turner.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 5-8. The bizarre-looking guy who works in the bird house at the zoo keeps appearing in Jere Robison's recurring nightmare, and the boy is troubled as to why everything in that strange dream is so mysteriously vivid and real. It all becomes clear when his parents reluctantly relate the events of a murder that took place across the street from their house 10 years earlier, and Jere realizes that he witnessed it when he was four years old. After the police are contacted and start an investigation, the zoo employee seemingly disappears. With help from his friend Avery, he tracks down the deranged man with almost deadly results. A steady and deliberate build up to the suspenseful climax brings depth to this novel. The main characters are convincingly drawn as are the various circumstances in which they find themselves. Dexter's unclouded delivery ties up all the events into a gratifying completion. An engrossing, suspense-filled mystery.?Jana R. Fine, Clearwater Public Library System, FL

4.0 out of 5 stars I Dream Of Murder, March 23, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: I Dream of Murder (Paperback)
I would give this book 4 stars because I really like murderer mysteries and this is one. This book was a page turner. I could not put it down. Jere and Avery are two ordinary kids until one day they get caught up in a situation at the zoo. Jere finds out that there was a murder that he witnessed. The problem is the murderer knows that Jere saw him kill. So the murderer must kill Jere and his friend Avery. So if you read this book you might scream "HOLY COW, SCARY! "

A Kid's Review

I Dream of Murder By Catherine Dexter

My book is a fiction book. It is about a boy in a small town and there is a man that he and his friend think murdered someone. So they go to the man's house and the girl gets caught. The book is a mystery and it makes you think. The man looks kind of poor because how he dresses. But he lives in a really big house and he also lives by his self.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT KEPT ME WANTING MORE, January 11, 2005
This review is from: I Dream of Murder (Paperback)
This is another book that I read all the way through. It's a good murder mystery involving kids, which I love with a passion. If you like books in that discription, get this book, you won't be disappointed. And if you are, that just means you have extremly bad taste. ;o)
