5.0 out of 5 stars Peaches and Cream, May 12, 2009

Fuzzy Wuzzy's Summary:
***** Highly recommended with warm fuzzies!

Three years, and one presidential election, after Peaches, aka Merrill Nisker, released her last Impeach My Bush, with its clever double entendre mixing body parts and political office, the queen of electroraunch is back for more creamy-tongue-in-cheek songs about sex, accompanied by buzzy fuzzbox sounds and her trademark in-your-face lyrics combined with kick-you-in-the-nuts percussion.

Compared to her previous albums, both the production and singing are becoming more polished and refined. The production on this album is shared by a host of electronic masters. This is not necessarily better or worse since I love the rawness of her previous releases like "Diddle My Skittle" on Teaches of Peaches (Bonus CD), and the simpler arrangements of songs like "Operate" on her "Fatherf-cker" album.

The "Talk To Me" song is my least favorite track. To my ears, it sounds too much like unpeachy mainstream pop. After "Talk To Me" comes the mushy sentimental "Lose You" sung with a soprano lilt. After having heard Peaches sing on the first track "Serpentine": "some call me trash, some call me nasty, call me crass, but you can't match me", it seems weird to hear her emotionally wounded voice singing "I don't want to lose you" two songs later. The title track, "I Feel Cream", has a 1980s Euro-disco feel to it, and every so often when I listen to this song, her vocals give me flashbacks to Donna Summer singing "I Feel Love". But in case you think Peaches is getting too soft now that she is 40, rest assured, Peaches returns back to her fine unrelenting form for the rest of the tracks.

But there is a definite fire and ice feel to this album compared to the flamethrower effect of her previous releases. Instead of her previous reliance on rapping, teasing, yelling, and cooing, there is actually singing of some songs now. Personally, I think that some of her singing makes a few songs too everyday mainstream, but I welcome the added variety. The jackhammers and barbed wire are now adorned with silk and satin.

Drums of Death, who helped with the production work, is currently on tour with Peaches. There is also a Drums of Death "Peaches Mixtape" 35-minute MP3 that you can listen to and download (see the 'Comment' section).

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Peaches, May 6, 2009
This review is from: I Feel Cream (Audio CD)
This is the closest thing to a commercial release by this brilliant artist to date - hardcore fans should not be put of by this comment however - she still delivers as only she can. The beats are great, lyrics are raunchy-funny, and vocals are better than ever. Good album to kick off summer.

5.0 out of 5 stars She ROCKS!, June 8, 2009
This review is from: I Feel Cream (Audio CD)
If you like Peaches, you need this CD. By the second listen, I was hooked. The lyrics are still clever and raunchy, and the music rocks. There are even a couple of slower, calmer songs on this CD. Most of the songs are great for dancing. FYI--she's INCREDIBLE in concert!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album!, January 18, 2010

I was never much of a Peaches fan. I always admired her strangeness and the balls to pull it off, but her music was more like noise to me.

After hearing I Feel Cream in a club I bought this album. Now I am a Peaches fan. No noise here. This CD has enough classic Peaches to keep the fans happy, but unlike her other music this is a CD you can listen to.

Most of these tracks I can imagine listening to in a club or playing in the background at a get together. I Feel Cream and Mommy Complex are my two favorites.

This CD was a nice surprize.

5.0 out of 5 stars I scream 4 Peaches Cream, July 16, 2009

I got into the Peaches game late but at this point I will buy anything new she puts out. This cd is less raunchy than her previous work. Gone are the lines "slappin' those D***cks all over the place." Now we have a sentimental Peaches talkin' about "I don't wannna lose u". I read another reviewer dissing that song and ironically that's m' fave track on the cd. "Lose You" sounds like mystical early 80's grooves with a mysterious dark 80's new wave vibe. It conjurs up images of some tragic Dale Bozzio looking chick holed up in her dark bedroom with neon lights on the bedstand tripping over some guy who broke her heart. I love the energy this song creates. Most of the other songs are dance oriented with the infamous Peaches lyrics sung over top that only she can do. "2 much salt in your diet", who would write something like that in a song? Peaches. There's some other good lines in "Mud" and a host of others. "I Feel cream" is a good dance jam, maybe some good remixes will follow. "Talk 2 Me" is the only rock sounding track, reminds me a lil of Stevie Nicks. Billionaire sounds like a Gwen Stefani type jam but Gwen Stefani don't cuss like Peaches do. Peaches is one of a kind and as long as she sticks to just being Peaches, that is all she has to do. Whenever I play one of her cds, u r automatically transported into Peaches world and u just sit back enjoy the ride and trip out let Peaches teach ya how 2 b a pervert baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musically, Peaches' best album so far, June 16, 2009

I just got a copy of this album and I'm listening to it as I review it. I just listened to "More" on the headphones, which seems, to me, to be the sort of thing Peaches always promised to do, but never had enough technology to deliver (I love all her low-tech stuff!). The production standards are much higher than on her previous albums and by this, I mean that she uses more sounds and treats the sounds more care. Her rapping, as on "Billionaire", are less interesting to me, but she introduces enough interesting musical material to keep me listening, however ....

I've spent so much time listening to the operas of Rameau and Lully recently, Peaches makes a nice contrast. I enjoy her very "in your face" approach to Pop music and lyrics. Long may she reign! I only hope she does a cover of John Foxx's "Burning Car" one day! That would be awesome, especially if she gets John to do the music!

4.0 out of 5 stars this cd rocks, May 14, 2009
This review is from: I Feel Cream (Audio CD)
i have never really been a huge fan of peaches...but i have always liked f**ck the pain away. as for the rest of her stuff, i have been kinda indifferent.

anyway, i got this cd based on the clips i heard and i have to say this cd ROCKS. i love it.

don't buy this if you expect the tracks to be like "talk to me." in my opinion it's the worst song on the cd. i ripped every song except this one...the rest are dirty, electro, grinding, rocking, trashy, sexy, soaring, funny, and in your face, whatever.

her production is much slicker, but in a good way. she still comes across hard and raw...no compromise. i love it...thanks peaches.

4.0 out of 5 stars Force to be reckoned with, November 10, 2009

When I first heard Peaches a decade or so ago, I took her for an entertaining novelty act. But over the course of four albums, she's proven herself to be an artistic, musical and political force to be reckoned with.

Although she continues to use brash sexuality as a tool for sociopolitical revolution, and also continues to use her female-Canadian-school-teacher voice to turn the tables on the normally black and male rap game, on "I Feel Cream" Peaches has also branched out quite a bit from her original schtick. "Talk To Me" shows that Peaches is actually a totally competent rock singer and songwriter, "Lose You" is a slice of fairly straightforward disco heaven, "Mud" is a poetic piece of alt-rock, and "Show Stopper" recalls the industrial sleaze of 'My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult'.

Overall, Peaches is a unique, intriguing performer continuing to expand her bag of tricks. I can't wait to see what else she's got up her sleeve.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT, June 22, 2009
By
This review is from: I Feel Cream (Audio CD)
This album is phenomenal. Peaches has moved into a more electro/house genre, but the sound is incredible. I recently saw her in concert and her performance was amazing. If you like good house beats that are raw and loud, heavy bass and high treble; an all-round good dance party--throw on this album: it's guaranteed to get the party jumpin'.

5.0 out of 5 stars PEACHES IS A GODDESS!!!, June 11, 2009

I Feel Cream is Peaches, fourth and finest, freshest album yet! She keeps evolving and yet maintaining that sexy, rockin' edge she's so famous for. I've seen her live three times and every show was one I will never forget. I can always put one of her albums on and it just takes me back to the shows and the wild times and just gets me revved up for whatever I've got going on at any moment. "I Feel Cream" is definitely her most commercial sounding album yet and I recommend it to newcomers and certainly old fans. Don't miss out!
