5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING MUSICIAN
This is such a great album! I have always been into acoustic rock and folk music and I must that this album has moved to the top of my listening list. He has such an amazing and capitivating voice accompanied with distinctivly percussive gutiar work. The heartfelt lyrics of this album pulled me in and really got me hooked on Eric. I love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment
I bought this and 2 other of Eric Himan CD's (All FOr Show & One Night Stands... Eric Himan Live) after reading other customer reviews and listening to a few 30 second clips...BIG MISTAKE. These are just 3 more CD's that will collect dust that I bought on reading the advise of others.

I had expected something more polished than a coffee house folk singer. I...

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly life-changing CD..., May 3, 2003

I really can't say enough good things about this album. It is nothing less than amazing. Eric Himan delivers a non stop performance of heart-felt emotion that will reach every single one of you in some way or another. His lyrics are poetry at its finest and can be applied to nearly every situation that life has to offer. Eric's vocal tone and guitar skills are incredible and not easily forgotten. From the very first line of the first track, "Delicately Made", it is clear that you're in for an experience that you won't forget. This is a CD that will change your life.

I heard abou Eric when we came to Seattle for a tour at the local GLBT center in promotion of his new album "All For Show". I was very impressed and glad to meet the man that has made this wopnderful music. He sounds like a solid contender for upcoming artist and rivals all the Dave Mathews and John Mayer. He definitly has a Tracy Chapman influence. Trust me if you get this album you will not be disapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Diamond in the Rough, August 24, 2006
This review is from: I Go On (Audio CD)
If over-produced pop is your thing, music where the artist has almost nothing to do with the sound ~ don't buy this record (I'm sure Justine Timberlake will have a new album out soon). If like me however, you like your music up close and personal, then this is an album for you. This is the kind of personal music that people remorse over the "fact" that it is not being made anymore. Yet here it is, sung by a guy who is all heart and wasn't even born when James Taylor and Carol King ruled the pop charts.

This is album #2 for Eric and it showcases strong song-writing skills, a powerful voice, and excellent guitar work. "Delicately Made" opens up the show and sets the tone with intimate lyrics and soulful delivery. "I Aint Done With You" grinds it up with a sultry sexy number that could have been sung by Billie Holiday (substitute jazz piano for the guitar).

"Man You Had in Mind" is a "coming out" anthem for gay kids explaining their lives to their parents, but the lyrics are general enough for anyone who has ever had to take a stand against what mom or dad wanted for them. "No Urgency" is as beautiful a song of unrequited love as has ever been written.

This is the type of music that stands up to repeated listening. The words "Dylanesque" and "Beatleesque" come to mind. But Eric Himan is still a small venue performer... as were once The Beatles and Bob Dylan. Listen to this guy and see him while you can still get decent seats to his shows ~ you will be ahead of the curve!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great surprise!, May 5, 2003

I happened upon Eric by accident one day, walking into the HRC store in Washington, DC where he was playing. What a performer! He has a great voice, a confident, relaxed style, and his songwriting is superb. He's also an amazing guitar player, coaxing sounds from his strings with grace and bravado. I was blown away by his set. I bought his CD there and then, and I wasn't disappointed. On CD, it's easier to hear his lyrics and appreciate the beauty of his words. Some of his strongest work is heartbreaking. He most reminds me of Tracy Chapman with his combination of strong vocals, moving lyrics, and folk-rock appeal. Favorite tracks: Change Your Tune, Us Little People, Cold and Wish. Watching him, I was struck by how much more talented he was than those kids on American Idol -- although I suppose he's about their age. It's sad how we prefer our performers neatly packaged when there's so much raw talent out there. Eric deserves to be a star; listen to this and I bet you agree.

I had expected something more polished than a coffee house folk singer. I could not relate to most of his songs after attempting to connect with them after a second and third listen. Some of the songs were just plain difficult to understand with Himan's style of singing. This will appeal to you if you are into coffe shop performers and are not really listening to the words but unfortunately not me.

If you are looking for out performers that are more polished, easier to understand and can relate to better because of his words check out Levi Kreis at his website levikreis.com or cdbaby.com, his music was not available at Amazon at least check.
