I was a big fan of Jemina's past band BYOP, as are a lot of the people who probably pick up this track. It resembles the music on their last album more than anything, as she was already headed in the 40's-50's pop style that this resembles.
It's cute, fun and ironic in tone. Plus, the odd couple that they are, hearing Iggy and Jemina croon at each other is kind of irresistible, if not incredibly strange. Like most fans of BYOP, it took getting used to her change in tone, from the fast, punky sounds that she came from but it's well worth the road traveled if you decide to go down it. I'm looking forward to what's to come from her because, with traveling mates like Thurston Moore and Iggy, she's in great hands. |
