I originally bought the vinyl album about 20 years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly but I haven't had a record player for many years. Having enjoyed the album and with so few great comedians to listen to these days I thought it was about time to invest in the CD ;-) I'm very glad I did as most of this well-crafted material sounds just as fresh and funny as it did then. I have a new appreciation for Steven Wright's wit and comendic timing and I'm very glad I bought this album 'again'.

I GAVE THIS 5 STARS BECAUSE HE IS FUNNY AND THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN ENJOY IT! HIS HUMOR IS GREAT! NO OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE!! I ORDERED ONE AND SCREENED IT. I LOVED IT AND WATCHED IT OVER & OVER. I ORDERED 4 MORE FOR XMAS GIFTS. BUY IT, IF YOU HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR & LIKE TO LAUGH!

While Wright's methodical deadpan delivery might not be for everyone, the man deserves his due when it comes to clever innovation and originality. Like contemporary Emo Philips, Steve Wright blazed trails for other comedians to follow with material that engages the listener's mind rather than offending one's sensibilities. His material is always good, but when linked together as a storyline as in the case of "Jiggs Casey" it attains another level entirely. And since the HBO special is included in this particular packing, this product is the best way to enjoy the catatonic comic's debut masterpiece.

Steven Wright's brand of ribtickling is all too rare.
But has his humour aged or do We in fact, need to glance
upon the mirror of self-honesty?

We've lost the ability to distinguish between the reality of
Steven still being hilarious, and the sad truth that we viewers
have long become desensitized & immune to sound wit, originality
& taste, due to 20 years of cultural degradation, cynicism
& TV trash.
Which means, nowadays our culture, media, values
& entertainment are, sorry to say, from the depths of a toilet,
considerably more so than in the Mid-eighties.

Even as a not-too-bright 9 Year old I would laugh aloud at
his bald honesty, deadpan delivery & blank otherness.
But now, 20+ years on, I can see how wise his material was,
so my appreciation has gained broader dimensions.

While the audio CD is doubtlessly excellent, a huge part of
Steven's genius is his face (especially his 1980s face!) so
DVDs are preferable over CDS for the full "Wright Experience."

While I'm not necessarily comparing him to, say, Lenny Bruce,
Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks or Woody Allen (personal Comedy icons
of mine), I would still definitely place him equal to, if not
above, the also brilliant Seinfeld or Larry David.

In closing, Steven Wright is a Somebody in Comedy, so if you
haven't seen him, for whatever reason, then here's your chance!

This has been around several years and if you like the low key humor of Steven then you will love it but most of you have heard this by now if you are a fan of Steven. If not, give it a try!

I happen to like the dry sense of humor Steven has and loved this DVD. It needs to be seen over and over to catch all the nuances - a great buy.
