Book Description

March 14, 2010
It's easy as Black & White, Happy & Sad, Hot & Cold, Good & Bad. This rhyming storybook teaches children which secrets are safe to keep and which ones aren't.

It is easy and fun to read with children. They will remember its lesson as it is put to verse and those verses are catchy enough the children repeat them to themselves, forever remembering the most important lesson that will keep them safe.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This is a wonderful poem to help children tell the difference between telling vs. tattling. I work for a child abuse and domestic violence program and we are always looking for ways to encourage children to not be scared to tell a safe person about a bad secret they were threatened to keep. Thank you, EJ for creating this much needed poem to share with all children! --Megan, works with abuse children

Wow! i love this poem, it is the perfect way to teach kids about secrets! i will share this with the children in my life! --Kyleah, daycare worker

About the Author

EJ Thornton got frustrated with the way the school system was teaching her daughters about secrets, strangers and dangerous touch, and she told them one simple rule to remember forever - even into their adult years that will keep them safe. Seventeen years after first teaching them this one simple rule, she put it to verse and this book was born.

More About the Author

EJ Thornton's first novel Angel On Board started her on career as an author, but what she didn't know at the time is that it also started her career as a publisher.

Frustrated with the publishing options available for a first-time author, EJ set out to create a publishing business that worked for the first-time author's book and all their subsequent books.

Authoring other such titles as Accelerated Book Marketing, Profitable Book Publishing, Revenue Beyond Royalties and How to Write the Feel-Good Book of the Year, EJ teaches other authors how to get their books in print and how to get them sold. The beauty of these books is they are written by a publisher, with a vast array of experience both writing and publishing fiction, non-fiction, children's books, poetry and self-help books.

Other books EJ Thornton has written include, Secrets to Creating Passive Income, its Kindle spin off 7 Easy Ways to Make Everyday a Payday. These books contain practical advice she first implemented for her authors, and expanded to include anyone who wanted to make some extra money to work towards their own Financial Freedom.

Her only children's book is a great hit and it is called, "I Have a Secret, Do I Keep It?"

EJ has co-authored several books with her husband John Clark Craig who is a prolific author in his own right - the most fun and frivolous one of these is Spirit Mound, the first book in a series titled Aliens in American History.

EJ and her publishing company Books To Believe In have published over 250 books, many of which are listed here on Amazon.com and many published directly and exclusively to the Kindle platform - just search on "Books To Believe In" and see some of the great projects her expertise has helped bring to the reading public!

This kid's book is so cute. The rhyming is adorable. The word choice is fantastic and the story is simply charming. If you have a little one and you want them to learn early whether or not a secret is worth keeping - get them this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars So simple - why isn't this method being taught in all the schools and churches?, February 12, 2006
This review is from: I Have a Secret (Perfect Paperback)
How do you teach a 3-year old when to keep a secret and when not to? Use this book - that's how! It is the simplest, purest, and probably most effective way to explain it so they get it!

Brilliantly done in poem form, reminiscent of Dr. Suess! It is cute, it is effective and it is a must have for all parents!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every student needs to read!, April 5, 2011
This review is from: I Have a Secret (Perfect Paperback)
As a former elementary school teacher, I highly recommend this little book to each child and each teacher out there. If only all of our children could distinguish between harmless, kept thoughts, and deep secrets. Everyone could benefit and improve communication on a grand scale by developing this differentiating skill. K. Muldooon, MAed.
