Just saw them perform at Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Mild-mannered stage presence and a healthy sense of intelligent humor to offset the poignant lyricism in many of the songs. It's not often a collaboration of great musicians is itself great (although the Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach cds come to mind). If you liked Earlimart or Grandaddy/Jason Lytle, the album plays to their low-key yet high-intensity talents.
