3.0 out of 5 stars Good product but could be better
The product looks nice, its small and compact and the sound is pretty good. The biggest problem with the mp3 player is that even though it comes with 32mb, it is 2 seperate 16mb chips. Each chip only holds about 4 songs so you either have to keep on changing the disk or listen to the four songs. It doesn't come with anything to hold an extra disk either. Other than...

Each chip only holds about 4 songs so you either have to keep on changing the disk or listen to the four songs. It doesn't come with anything to hold an extra disk either. Other than that its a nice product, the radio works well, and since its so small, its easy to carry.

You have to go to their web site and download their instruction and FAQ before you know how to download music into the cards. No you cannot delete music in the player. You've to do it with the card reader that comes with the player which works nicely. I can only record 4 to 5 songs into one 16MB cards with medium compression. It would be better if they provide one 32MB card instead of two 16MB cards. The player produce quite nice sound and is close to CD quality. There is a by pass in the parellel cord for hook up to your printer so you don't have to plug and unplug to use the printer. With this low price I really cannot complaint too much. I think it is a very good deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only a few problems that are easy to work around, October 9, 2000

Overall I think this is a wonderful product, especially for the price. Here are the few minor problems:

-Install software is junk. It's outrageously slow and loaded with bugs, but it should work in the end. Once installed, I had no problems writing/erasing data.

-Unable to fast forward/rewind in tracks, only skip tracks.

-Radio has interference from wide frequency range (while I was listening to 92.1 I could sometimes hear 92.9 FM)

-Earphones don't sound very good and are painful if left in too long.

Other than these few problems, the player works great, is tiny, and is definitely worth it for the price when compared to other similar devices.

I Buy one of these last year for my 12 years old daughter and looks and listen good, last christmas we try to intall it to a new computer with Window XP and we could't install, then we try to find the drivers for these Opeating System on their Web Site, and they don't have yet, but they will never have, so these device will be unusefull in any Computer with these Operating System Windows XP.

It's a great deal for [the price]...no one can deny that. But, the 32MB is actually two 16MB cards which is a pain. I already lost one of them! People on the busy city street I was on couldn't understand why I was staring at the ground. I was looking for the memory card which is about as easy to find as a contact lense. Still, I've got my "hefty" 16MB left which can hold maybe 3 songs, but I can always fall back on the radio tuner...

3.0 out of 5 stars I-Jam IJ-100 MP3/FM Radio Pocket Player, January 20, 2002

I just picked up my IJ-100 today. I got It for a discounted price at a clearance sale.It was missing two Sandisk 16Meg MMC cards (that the box said to contain). The MMC card reader plugs into your printer & PS/2 ports, both plugs have passthrough connections to allow you to use your Printer & PS/2 Device as normal. The card reader installation paused up a couple times at first. After I installed The card reader it was assigned a drive letter, wich in my case "g: ", then I just dragged my mp3's to "g:/" .

When I put the songs on one at a time, everything was fine, but trying to put on a whole pile of mp3's at one time paused up my computer(I had to reformat my MMC Card & start over). The maximum card that the I-Jam can read is 32Meg. I had a 64Meg card that I used. I copied about 40Megs (or 14 songs) onto the card and put it into my I-Jam. I skipped through the tracks while playing & once it got to track 13 (out of 14) The LCD Displayed "Stop". So I guess it read up to 32megs on my 64meg card. Lame, but at least I don't have to go out & buy a new card .

The FM Tuner only picks up like three stations were I am, and it just so happens that's haw many stations you can preset into memory. When the reception is crumby moving the headphones around muffles the signal even worse.

The Mp3 player is fairly simple to use, There isn't much for bells & wistles though. It plays upto 160kb bitrate MP3, but with 32megs of storage your best to stick with 96 or 128kb MP3's. You can adjust bass & Treble, The regular Play, Stop, Skip, but no fast foward/reverse. Random play, Intro play, Repeat one/all, & A-B repeat are included funtions. There are only 9 butons & over 16 functions so holding a button for 3seconds is required to do some things. For example tapping the power button once activates the blue backlight on the screen, but holding power down for 3 sec. shuts the unit off.

Overall I am happy with what I paid for it. If it wasn't for the Shotty MMC card reader, & the limit of 32megs, this would be a decent player.

5.0 out of 5 stars The I-Jam Is Fantastic!, October 27, 2000

First off all, I must say I love this thing! I can't believe how small it actually was! Which was even better! It's honestly the size of a normal forefinger. The memory chips are the size of a thumb nail! I must say I'm afraid of losing these little things, but it works VERY well! I haven't had any problems since I bought it and it's just what I thought.. great sound, low cost, and everything you need to take with you either when you're running or even on the beach.. forget my walkman! It's about time someone came out with something like this.. don't take my word for it, buy one and trust me.. you'll like it. I honestly can't find anything horrible to say.. and I would too if I had the chance :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A super great value..., September 29, 2000

I got this player 2 weeks ago and absolutely adore it. It is small, super light, and durable. I take it running 5 days a week -- it is perfect for this. The only minor complaint is that it has 2 16 meg cards instead of 1 32 meg card. This means you can only fit 15 minutes of CD quality music in it at a time. For me, I just convert my music files to 64K/sec & fit 30 minutes on each card. For while I am running, this sound quality is just fine & I don't have to stop & change cards halfway thru a run. If you do plan on exercising with this player, you will need different headphones. I got some great Phillips earhugger type phones...When the card is in the cardreader it functions just like any disc drive. You can drag files into it & delete files in Explorer just like with a floppy disk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont buy an mp3 player!, March 22, 2000

If you are rich as hell, go ahead and buy it. But for the price your paying for this, you could get a great Mini Disk player, and even plenty of discs for over 2,000 minutes of recording time. Dont believe me? Goto the Mini Disc section and do the math! Even better, you can record mp3's onto the MiniDisk players, you can also record your voice, your playstation/N64/Dreamcast, VCR, TV, Radio, Tape, everything! I almost bought an mp3 player, and im glad i didn't. MP3's are too expensive compared to Mini-Disks, and if you look at the Mini Disk trend right now, its exactly like the CD trend 10 years ago. They are already making Mini Disk drives fro computers to store info. Just check out the Mini Disks before you buy this, trust me, you'll thank me. If you have any questions, email me, Ill answer them asap!

This smalll handheld player provides me high quailities more than the price I paid. It came with Card-Reader which let me download files to MMC very fast, just drag and drop I will get my favorite song into small memmory card, very easy to install. Two of 16 Mbyte MMC cards are enough to store 30 minutes of CD quality songs that 's not too bad compared with its prize. Moreover, it has build-in FM stereo tuner that don't have in many others players. Don't have to think much to buy it.
