Book Description

December 1, 2000
"When a film crew ventures out into the real world to create a make-believe world for a movie or television show, sometimes these two worlds clash. Making a movie on location is a lot like military maneuvers. A battalion of personnel and equipment bivouac, light up a target area, and shoot. As the smoke clears, and the film crew marches on, casualties are often left in the wake. Just as in war, somebody has to stay behind to detoxify the area and make reparations. That was my job. I was a Location Manager in the Motion Picture Industry during the last two decades of the 20th Century."

About the Author

Twenty-five years in the film industry, Barry Gremillion has served in the trenches with such intriguing filmmakers and actors as Oliver Stone, David Lynch, Bruce Willis, Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer. Much of that time he was a Location Manager—the most thankless job in the business according to certain Industry sources—on movies like THE DOORS and television series like TWIN PEAKS. He began his career as an actor, appearing on the television series THE DUKES OF HAZZARD and in such films as FUTUREWORLD and DRIVE-IN and appeared on stage in THE BEARD and MARAT/SADE. He created, produces and hosts the FIREHEAD MYTHOLOGICAL RADIO THEATER, a series of radio plays that have been heard on KPFK Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles, and across the country on over 60 college and independent radio stations. He is also the author of a book of short stories DYING PLANET LIVING DREAM.
