5.0 out of 5 stars From a song writers point of view.
I don't listen to radio. Really never do. One night I was at this bar and this song came on and it caught my ear and I listened to it all the way through and the thing that popped into my head was "Wow that's a damn good pop song, who is that?"

I've been meaning to download this song. The bottom line is this, this song is great as far as modern pop songs go...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's just too catchy.
Yes, the topic is nothing deep and sometimes you just wanna hate it but the rhyme scheme and the fun lyrics drive this song into listen-able territory.

It's undeniable that this will get your feet a' tapping.

3.5 stars.

I've been meaning to download this song. The bottom line is this, this song is great as far as modern pop songs go. It has a fantastic electro vibe with a taste of new wave built in. This is not IMO the standard garbage that many of these negative reviews are geared towards. It's easy to hate something when it's popular but you know what some things that are popular are actually not that bad and deserve the credit they get.

This is one of them. Great pop song writing. Worth the download.

This rocks! Katy Perry may not be the best singer, but who cares?!? I mean, you listen to this song once or twice and you catch yourself goin' "I kissed a girl an' I liked i,it," all the time. ROCK ON!!!!

Well, if you are a prude, homophobe and otherwise disinclined to be amused by Perry's admission that she kissed a girl and liked it then just stop reading and navigate to a music selection more suited to your prejudices.

Otherwise, the song is fun, a little bit of thump and her vocals are just fine. It's good enough that I stop channel hopping on XM when I happen on a channel playing it, and I marked it as a fav on my Zune.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from my kids, Katy!, January 1, 2012
This review is from: I Kissed A Girl (MP3 Download)
Please allow me to set the record sraight, once and for all, about all this "offensiveness" and "controversy" over this stupid pop song.

Fact #1: In case you haven't noticed, the world we live in consists of not only adults, but impressionable children and teenagers as well. But over the past 25 years or so, the entertainment industry, little by little, has been injecting more and more sexual content into network television, radio airplay of rap/R&B, and pop/dance music (Remember Madonna when she was somebody?). Now, any normal, responsible parent wouldn't want their children be exposed to any type of sexual subject matter before they understand the ways of the world and are not likely to be influenced by someone else's personal concept of sexuality. This is something that parents seem to have very little control over in today's world. So now, kids are getting their first lesson about lesbian sex from this idiot Katy Perry and the suits behind it all.

Fact #2: This song is not a "work of art" musical composition. It's just another cheese ball, bubble gum, commercial, teeny bopper dance club jingle that draws a bit of shock value because it's about girl-on-girl experimentation. Oooooh! Katy is like singing about kissing a girl! OMG! Tee hee hee!

Fact #3: This is a pop song with lyrics that talk about lesbian sexual experimentation and it has been openly played on just about every mainstream media there is. So folks, what kind of parent would be okay letting their 6 year old child listen to this song and reciting the lyrics? Maybe at 8? When is it okay? At 10? 12? Maybe 16? When do you think your daughter is ready to sing along to a song about kissing another girl? Apparently, these radio and television programmers seem to think it's okay for any age. And they're getting away with it.

Fact #4: Katy Perry is a moron, and morons are dangerous to children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Foot thumpin & fun song, July 3, 2011
This review is from: I Kissed A Girl (MP3 Download)
Good beat and fun lyrics. I'm not really big on pop music so normally I might rate it a little lower, however, I noticed several hate remarks from the morality police. Apparently this song pissed some religious freaks. Of course everyone assumes that religion has a monopoly on morality, and that God spawned religious freaks to condemn/punish/damn others. I just wanted them to know that some people don't agree with their condescending/hateful crap, thus I purchased it and rated it 5.

I will never download from amazon again. not that there was anything wrong with the track, I just found places with easier interface.

the song itself is ok, but it gets stale after a while. only download this if you are a liberated lesbian or you just can't get enough Katy Perry.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's contraversal but nonetheless it's a good song!, June 25, 2008
This review is from: I Kissed A Girl (MP3 Download)
Alright so here is the deal, this coming from a heterosexual, middle-class white girl...I like the song a lot. I think it not only speaks to a new generation, it's funny. I don't know if the song is supposed to be taken literally but nonetheless I still like it. Not only does the song have a kicking beat but Katy Perry's voice is amazing. If you a person who is a little bit of a homophobe, well then this song is not for you nobody is forcing you to listen to it either. However, if you are like me and believe in the freedom of expression, I am positive you will dig this song as much as I do! So here''s to good times, good laughs, and good music!

Catchy tune. I prefer the Jill Sobule song of the same name and topic. Both are intended to have a little shock value, which hopefully contribute to the chipping away of biases. Perry's is more of a dance beat. Sobules is more in the Indigo Girls sort of genre. Sobule's is also more clever - building up a story that leads to the main lyric.

A fun pop song just in time for the summer. Enjoy it for what it is. Summer entertainment is light, non-thought provoking, and most times, enjoyable. This fits right in.
