Boisterous, Sweet, and Instantly Engaging,
By
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Board book)
This story of a little girl and her boisterous, friendly, semi-imaginary wild pets was an instant favorite with my 21-month old daughter. The copy is perfect: it rhymes, it goes with the pictures, and there's isn't very much of it, so for once the story proceeds at the right brisk pace for little page turners. And the pictures of the impish girl and the things she does with the animals are very engaging. The rhino drinks tea, the pig has mud fights, and the dragon needs looking after when he has a cold. We both had this one memorized in less than a day. I can tell it will join "Gorilla" "Moon" and our other favorites on the frequently read list.

Great for Bedtime,
By Michelle Osentoski (East Lansing, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Board book)
Have you ever sipped tea with a rhino, sang songs with an ape, or treated a dragon for a cold? Well, Charles Fuge has a story for you called "I Know a Rhino" which invites you into a loveable animal adventure that will make your imagination run wild like the girl in the story. All while just being at home a girl has lots of fun with eight different animals which are all her friends and at the end of the book you will see why. The text is told in first person and printed in a thick black ink that really stands out against the bright pages. Each double spread page is devoted to one animal which gives the girl different emotions that are vivid in the watercolor paintings. The impressionistic art accurately portrays the size difference between the girl and each animal; he even makes you turn the book vertically to show the height of the giraffe. The balance between the text and illustrations is unparalleled and makes this a picture book that will want to be read over and over again. This is the ultimate animal fantasy for every preschooler to realize that in their imaginative world they can do anything even if they are stuck at home.

A must have for any children's book collection,
By Charles Edmunds (Escondido, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Hardcover)
This delightful, sweet, and incredibly illustrated book is our favorite. After a trip to the zoo we brought it home for our 3 and 1 year old to enjoy. The illustrations have amazing detail and capture such emotion. The rhymes are very cute and catchy. Our 1 year old squeals with excitement every time she finds it and she will sit and flip through the pages over and over and over. We love it!

I Know A Rhino,
By Tammy Randall (Uniontown, OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Hardcover)
An outstanding visual and lyrical story about silly animals and the situations they bring to our imaginations. I purchased this book for my great nephew shortly after taking him on a trip to the zoo... he loved identifying the animals, remembering them at the zoo, and giggling at the possibility of taking tea with a rhino or taking a bath with a giraffe. He wanted to read it over and over... and so did I!

a spunky girl!,
By cambridge reader "cambridgearea" (cambridge, ma United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Paperback)
The central character is a spunky imaginative girl with diverse interests ranging from playing in the mud, dancing, and playing doctor to having tea-parties and playing dress-up. She wears comfy jeans and other non-pink clothes throughout most of it, and even her pajamas are not pink. My daughter really enjoyed the rhyming, lyrical text, and the bedtime theme makes it perfect for pre-bed reading. We started reading it at about 12 months I think and it is only recently (she's now 2.5 yo) that it seems to be losing ground as one of her "must-read every night" books.

Buying Our 2nd Copy!,
By Tim & Kathryn "timandkathryn" (MI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Board book)
Our 15-month old daughter loves books. For her birthday we purchased all of the Dr. Seuss board books, plus she has many others. However, "I Know a Rhino" is her favorite by far. She received this book as a gift when she was born. 15-months later, my husband and I can recite it by heart and the front cover has finally started to tear. We're buying our 2nd copy. Every night she will find this book, bring it to one of us, then back up to sit on our laps. "I Know a Rhino" is cute, has great illustrations, and won't drive you insane when you read it for the 10th time that night!

I came across this book accidentally and have since purchased six copies for friends and their children. It is a delight to read and we don't grow tired of the sweet rhymes. The pictures are fantastic and the end closes with a nice pitch for imagination.

We all LOVE this book!,
By Brea (WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Board book)
My husband and I bought this book at the zoo for our daughter when she was 9 months old. She loved listening to it and looking at the pictures back then, and still absolutely adores it (now 3 years old). Our 1.5 year old son also loves it and gets so excited looking at all the animals. He ripped the cover off recently (toddlers!), and we had to replace the book because the kids want to read it at least every other day. They never get tired of it and neither do we! It's pretty rare to find a book that the parents like as much as the kids, but this one is so great.

By KJS "Twin Mom" (Woodinville, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Know a Rhino (Board book)
I own this book in the larger format and it is my kids' favorite. I was delighted to see that it is also available in a board book for toddlers and purchased it as a gift and will probably continue to get more of them for baby showers in the future. Shipment was quick - transaction was easy.
