I, Kowtower by Patrick Ratchford is an imaginatively written tale following the famous Zen shrink Dr. Shiva Kowtower on his riskiest assignment ever: to break the formidable Harry Duke. Ratchford loves language and plays with it liberally as he spins this fantastical tale of love, revenge and metaphysics. The book creates its own world and once you give in to its realities, the true experience begins. Don't let the dense narrative style intimidate you. Sip it, savor it, and let it take you on the journey. Or, in the parlance of the novel, take your Self to the Frolic Room, listen to the aria of the Zenzangzung, face your insidious monkey, and follow the flock ewes to Chance, the hideous freak. Seek. Truth. Will. Travel. It's well worth the trip.
