From Publishers Weekly
A chimp of no specific gender romps through two books, presenting favorite books in the first title ("books about dinosaurs and books about monsters . . . song books . . . and strange books") and playful pastimes in the second ("Going to birthday parties, and being with my friends . . . ." among the pleasures). Browne's pictures have an attractive looseness that make them ideal for toddlers; he has simplified his style without undermining it. In Books the chimp appears in clothing inspired by storybook heroes; and in Things the lead character is surrounded by friends and activities. The outlook in each--positive and upbeat--sends a clear message, encouraging the overlapping events of imaginative play, real activities and reading. Ages 2-6.
