I got this book because I liked "I Like Fruit" so much -- another book in this series that teaches colors.

"I Like Vegetables" concentrates on opposites like peas INSIDE and OUTSIDE the pod, and SHORT vs. TALL corn stalks. It's very cute, with the artistic collage art and down-home garden, farm, and whole-foods kind of imagery. Like "I Like Fruit," "I Like Vegetables" has some tactile spots on each page, like satiny peas and a real checkered cloth lining the veggie basket at the end of the book.

Best of all, my daughter (19 mo) enjoys the book and asks me to read it over and over and over. I think the book is suitable for very little babies through toddlers, and also for the children of parents who are gardeners, cooks, frequenters of farmers' markets, or who appreciate good design and sweet simplicity.

This is an excellent book which introduces vegetables as well as opposing conflicts such as above/below, tall/short, big/little and more. This sturdy board book incorporates beautiful vibrant colors and a highly durable `touch and feel' aspect -little fingers will not be able to pull this one apart! Peas are shown inside their shells, and on the opposite page, outside their shells which may be felt in `clothy' circles. The last spread shows an empty garden basket juxtaposed to a full one which is placed upon a blue and white checkered (and textured) tablecloth, with the caption "I like vegetables!" A more perfect board book would be hard to find.

This book is way too short, even for a board book. Would recommend for kids under one and a half.

I bought this because i wanted my son to have a few portable touch and feel books. This didn't have great fabric and not enough variety. It is a very pretty book though.

We received "I like fruit" at our baby shower and it was a hit from the beginning! She didn't start touching the textures until 5 or 6 months, and then around 8 months she figured out how to turn the pages and it became even more fun! Thankfully these are high quality board books perfect for little hands, and have held up better than several others (as we have read them over and over...and over again!). We now own "I like vegetables" and "I like bugs" as well. I love the art and textures in all the books. I also love how they are short and sweet, but can become easy topics for learning conversations (ie. colors, numbers, etc.). Because I speak another language, I often read the first time in English and the second time in the other language (it's easy to do because the books are not too wordy). I would recommend any in the series as they are a big hit at our house, but "I like fruit" is my favorite, and "I like bugs" is her favorite.

"I like vegetables" focuses on opposites. Veggies include: carrot, peas, corn, pumpkin, and a basket full.

I bought this for my granddaughter's first birthday. I love the bright colors, and I think she's going to spend a lot of time learning the names for all the vegetables. It's very durable, which we all know is a requirement for one year olds!

This book is a hit and miss, depending on the page. The first two pages have carrots and show the carrots above ground and below ground. The colors are a good balance on those pages, but the felt texture on the carrot does not hold up well over time. The next pages of opposites feature peas inside the pod on one page and on the other, shiny textured cloth peas on the outside of their pods. The pictures are maybe a little complex for tiny eyes, but an older toddler might enjoy them more. After that is the field of tall and short corn with a bumpy textured head of corn. Following that comes a pumpkin patch which artistically is one of the better contrasts, with a green ground and cream colored sky setting off the bright orange pumpkins. The connecting page has a pumpkin with a strip of a velour texture on it. The last pages feature an empty basket on one side and a full basket on the other with a textured cloth for the picnic blanket (a very realistic texture, unlike the shiny cloth peas). Overall, the textures were decent, and the pictures were nice. The book has very few words (usually just one or two to a page), so it is easy to switch languages to teach opposites and vegetables in more than one language with this book. The book is also made of a sturdy, thick cardboard, so it appears it can handle fairly heavy use. As many other board books seem to focus on unhealthy food options to teach little children, this natural and farm themed book is a very nice option.

The art is pretty, modern and bright, the textures are interesting and my toddler loves it. The binding seems to hold up better then other board books too.
