Book Description

March 8, 2011 Petit Collage
Do you like peas and carrots? Discover a world of things to like in touch-and-feel board books.

Can you spot the triangle in the sailboat, or the rectangle in the robot? Feel the texture and explore the pictures to learn all about shapes in I Like Toys. Then look at and touch different vegetables, from the big and small pumpkins to the tall and short corn, as you find out about opposites. Textures perfectly complement the collage pictures, while the simple text encourages children to learn basic concepts and investigate what they like about the world around them.

Format:Board book
This is an excellent book which introduces vegetables as well as opposing conflicts such as above/below, tall/short, big/little and more. This sturdy board book incorporates beautiful vibrant colors and a highly durable `touch and feel' aspect -little fingers will not be able to pull this one apart! Peas are shown inside their shells, and on the opposite page, outside their shells which may be felt in `clothy' circles. The last spread shows an empty garden basket juxtaposed to a full one which is placed upon a blue and white checkered (and textured) tablecloth, with the caption "I like vegetables!" A more perfect board book would be hard to find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute! July 18, 2011
Format:Board book|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got this book because I liked "I Like Fruit" so much -- another book in this series that teaches colors.

"I Like Vegetables" concentrates on opposites like peas INSIDE and OUTSIDE the pod, and SHORT vs. TALL corn stalks. It's very cute, with the artistic collage art and down-home garden, farm, and whole-foods kind of imagery. Like "I Like Fruit," "I Like Vegetables" has some tactile spots on each page, like satiny peas and a real checkered cloth lining the veggie basket at the end of the book.

Best of all, my daughter (19 mo) enjoys the book and asks me to read it over and over and over. I think the book is suitable for very little babies through toddlers, and also for the children of parents who are gardeners, cooks, frequenters of farmers' markets, or who appreciate good design and sweet simplicity.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good, but way too short. July 14, 2011
Format:Board book|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is way too short, even for a board book. Would recommend for kids under one and a half.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good texture
What a fun way to teach kids about vegetables! I love that the texture is subtle but the rest of the drawings appear to have some texture as well.

This was the perfect addition to a veggie themed gift for an infant. Combined with a veggie bib & veggie onesie, it complemented the uniqueness of the present for our nephew. Read more
