5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing, March 24, 2006
This review is from: I/O (Audio CD)
Alright people, if you weren't convinced by my sappy love fest review of Limblifter's Balaclava album then this is your chance to redeem yourself and get in the Limblifter camp! Several years have passed since the release of Balaclava, an album that I consider to be one of my all-time favorites.
Limblifter has returned with their new album, I/O. Ryan Dahl, the glue that holds Limblifter together and the principle songwriter has once again triumphed and given the World a taste of his soul.
The selections on this album are at once heart felt and just oblique enough to let you create your own interpretations. That is genius songwriting. I am so glad to have found this talent and believe that these guys should already be a household name by now.
I/O has a cleaner feel to it than the previous Limblifter albums. Songs like "The Auctioneer" and "Drug Induced" are real standouts with their perfect arrangements and instrumentation leaving just enough space for the listener to jump into the song and be a part of the experience.
Excellent work. Limblifter just keeps getting better, if that's even possible!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Album I've Been Waiting For, March 31, 2005

Poncho (Aylmer, Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I/O (Audio CD)
I can't believe I am only the second person to review this cd. But anyway, I think it is so amazing and even though it is quite short and took 4 years to get, it is surprisingly worth it. It just goes to remind that quality definitely does come before quantity. It is so catchy and memorable. In my opinion this is timeless music that I don't think will ever get old. I think the songwriting and musicianship is outstanding and the album is very refreshing. But yet it gives me a feeling of nostalgia meanwhile it is a very recent record. I guess it just has that great vibe of classic nineties music that can't be created by just an average or even very good band, but Limblifter had the magic to do it. Plus it still sounds very modern at the same time. It has a very unique sound to it that I can't describe. I hope Limblifter keeps making albums and that the next one doesn't take 4 years. Anyway, for those who want music that is refreshing and is better than the majority of crap that you hear on the radio, this cd is for you. Also I haven't written a review on here in quite a long time and I think that says something about this album. I have listened to it for quite a while and now finally I felt the need to say something about it. This is the album I have been waiting for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Breathtaking!!!, February 1, 2008
This review is from: I/O (Audio CD)
I've lived in the States for 10 years now and seemed to have forgotten where I came from. I used to be a super teen fan of AOE and LL and have once again become completely addicted. This album, and Ryan's talent is comletely genius! I can listen to every single song on this album and it takes my breath away. The songs do grow on you and you hear different things and get different interpretations each time you listen. My fav songs are In/Out, Drug Induced, Alarm Bells*** MY FAV, makes me almost cry at the lyrics and sound, Ryan is unbelieveable!!***, Jumbo Jet Headache, and Soft Signals. I just really hope I can see them perform at least once in my life. I saw AOE back in the day but if I could hear some of these songs live I feel like I would just die... in a good way!! GET THIS ALBUM!!! Totally decent rock!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Think We'll Turn It Up To Full Blast For This One, Or Maybe Half Blast, February 27, 2006

This album is full of genuine, great songwritten songs. Great musicianship and everything else. Loads of hooks and stuff to keep you interested. Totally underrated band that should be at the top of Canada but unfortunately is at the bottom. For those who like this check out the original band of one or two of the members of Limblifter called The Age Of Electric. They have two albums to my knowledge that aren't completely impossible to find and I think one that I can't even find on Ebay called The Latest Plague. The other ones are called The Age Of Electric and Make A Pest A Pet. The latter is their most common and well known. So that is a little background information about a couple members from this band that might be of interest to fans of them. Listen to them both, NOW!

I've always loved Limblifter but this album is easily their best yet. I can't get enough of it. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm going to go listen to it for the 30 millionth time right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth taking a chance, March 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: I/O (MP3 Download)
I took the chance on this band. Honestly, this is the first that I've heard of Limblifter. I wanted to get a "new" band for the collection... and take advantage of Amazon's Cloud Player (and additional free 15 GB of storage!!) So, I took the chance based on the previous reviews. Generally i'm a bit leery when it comes to trusting someone's review on Amazon, you never know when you're reading someone's own mother posting how great their kid is.

Well, that may be the case with Limblifter, but I can tell you this, I know nothing of the band or even any of the members. I do know that I really enjoyed listening to the 'I/O' release. They have a different sound from the post-grunge rock band era. I can't compare it to much of what I've heard recently, and that's a good thing, as most bands today have the same sound. They are different, extremely talented and one of the best sounds that I've heard in a long time.

Regards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant, September 3, 2005

This review is from: I/O (Audio CD)
I found this cd to be quite good. Ryan Dahle's style of music and love of melodic and soft beats really brings out emotion or the urge to get up dance when it's one of the "rock-ier" songs.

Check it out if you're looking for something new and or Canadian.
