The Love of Honeys,
By Teresa Beasley (Indianapolis,IN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Love Honeys, Not NY (Paperback)
I Love Honeys, Not NY, is the story of Leron Smitty, who relocates from New York to Houston with plans to change his life. His friend, Donovan, convinces him that the move is what he needs, but once he arrives his friend deserts him in a city where he knows no one. Leron quickly learns to adjust to his new environment until he gets a call that his mother has passed away. After burying his mother, Leron decides to return to Houston where his love for women takes over, but does not fill his void. Leron starts to analyze his situation and decides to enroll into college. When he believes all is going well, and he finally wants to settle down with one of his women, he receives a call that he is going to be a father. What will Leron do with this unwanted news?
The reader will find I Love Honeys, Not NY an interesting but challenging read with potential. The plot did not appear to be well thought-out and it was hard to detect where the story was heading. The characters were not strong; details were overkill, which took away from the book, and the ending was incomplete. I recommend the author consider having professional editing services in order to make the book a better read. Miss the Mark,
By Dream 4 More Book Reviews "Adrienna Turner" (Milwaukee, WI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Love Honeys, Not NY (Kindle Edition)
N.S. Ugezene's urban fiction novel "I Love Honeys, Not NY," has all the makings of a good story. The main character, Leron Smitty, is a young man who is struggling to better himself, but can't seem to break free from the revolving door of meaningless sexual relationships. His life is further complicated after his best friend deserts him and his mother passes away.
Despite the potential for a great book, "I Love Honeys, Not NY," leaves much to be desired. There is a poor command of language as well as a bland narrating voice. Except for the erotic scenes, the story mostly lacks meaningful dialogue, description and emotion. Other portions of the book that should be expressed using these storytelling mechanisms are summed up in just a few sentences. This style of writing does not allow readers to know or empathize with the main character. The lack of character depth leaves the reader barely able to tell one character from the next. Ugezene's novel ends abruptly. Whether it is the setup for a sequel or just a poorly written conclusion, one cannot tell. But if the intent was to provide a well-crafted, entertaining story, Ugezene completely missed the mark. 1: Dream On Dream 4 More Reviews, Adrienne Adams

Excellent book,
This review is from: I Love Honeys, Not NY (Paperback)
N.S. Ugezene's urban fiction novel "I Love Honeys, Not NY," is a somewhat erotic, well-crafted, entertaining, fantastic, great story. The main character is Leron Smitty who relocates to Houston at the request of his homeboy. But that all goes down the drain when his homeboy deserts him for a female. Leron how has to rely on the company of females totally which leads to temptation and the possible jeopardy of his goals. This is a concrete story what more than just commercial appeal. I recommend this for readers who don't want to read an urban fiction novel centered around senseless violence.
