Lektrogirl is cool!!!, September 27, 2003

This Cd in my opinion is great, granted it may not be for everyone. from info I gathered off the artist's website, www.lektrogirl.com, the fact that this cd is low fidelty is actually the entire point. its not like the cd was released and someone heard it and said uh oh!, what have we done?
The main piece of equipment used in sound production was an ensoniq sq-80 keyboard for you techheads which was the height of technology back in the 80's. In another article discussing this cd I read that Lektrogirl recorded it using her sister's home stereo and making various passes with the recorder and then the cassette was taken to a studio for mastering. So what the cd lacks terms of being made on an expensive home recording setup it definitely makes up in its artistic integrity and heart. The melodies in the music are there for those who will listen and not so caught up on imposing their ideas of what music should sound like in 2003. The 14 tracks of this cd have a cuteness to them that is undeniable especially on tracks like "No Rap No Rock". There is a whole generation out there who grew up listening to commodore 64s, Amigas, atari 2600s, and nintendos going bleep bleep As one of them I never hated these game systems for their sound, they are what they are. As a matter of fact lots of times you couldn't help getting one of those gametunes stuck in your head for like a week. For anyone feeling a bit nostalgic for the 80's this can definitely transport your ears back in time, and maybe even make you feel like a kid again. Where's the harm in that?
Personally i hope Lektrogirl keeps on rockin. Long live gamemusic and the 80's.

well, the entire album is in mono; it sounds like they played a bunch of keyboards through amps and then hung a mic from the ceiling or sumthin to record the final mix bcuz they (She) dont know how to do a real mix. if u listen to it with hedphones it creates a massive headache becuz of all the funked up mono sounds. oh ya, i like it tho, nice stuff actually. only rephlex would hav the nerv to release a mono rekkid in 1999....
