5.0 out of 5 stars Serge Gainsbourg - I Love Serge
France's original dirty old man and electronic music pioneer, Serge Gainsbourg, gets the once-over by a group of remixers, many of them French. But the non-French remixers are just as respectful of Gainsbourg as their Gallic counterparts: Howie B. turns "Ballade de Melody Nelson" into a downtempo serenade; Herbert puts a quiet beat under "Bonnie and Clyde," and The Orb go...

3.0 out of 5 stars Um, not very pleasing
Yea it was quite disappointing to hear the remixes playing from the cd. It seems that they have messed up the beatiful melodies of the original songs... Sex sea and the sun's okay but all the others are a bit, unbearable. It's tender to hear Jane moaning in J'taime moi non plus, but I found it irritating to hear her screaming in climax in one of the other songs. Most...

5.0 out of 5 stars Serge Gainsbourg - I Love Serge, February 24, 2011
This review is from: I Love Serge: Electronicagainsbourg (Audio CD)
France's original dirty old man and electronic music pioneer, Serge Gainsbourg, gets the once-over by a group of remixers, many of them French. But the non-French remixers are just as respectful of Gainsbourg as their Gallic counterparts: Howie B. turns "Ballade de Melody Nelson" into a downtempo serenade; Herbert puts a quiet beat under "Bonnie and Clyde," and The Orb go for ambient mish-mash on "Requiem Pour Un C...." But the French can deliver the goods as well: Demon Ritchie turns "Sea, Sex & Sun" into a house anthem; Chateau Flight dub out "Lola Rastaquouere" entirely; and Readymade send "Aeroplanes" into the stratosphere. Those looking for some club-friendly Gainsbourg will find Bob Sinclar's tribal take on "Marabout" right up their alley. The OGM mix of "Five Easy Pisseuses" is down and dirty, while the Dzihan and Kamien mix of "Je T'aime... Moi, Non Plus" is all deepness and quietude. An outstanding example of how remixes can revitalize older -- and honored -- artists.

4.0 out of 5 stars A musical cloud of Gitanes smoke, June 22, 2001

Two thumbs up for this CD of some of Serge's finest hits, remixed by international dance-y types. Howie B, Bob Sinclair, The Orb, and Dhizan & Kamien are only a few of the high points. A must-own for any serious Serge fan.

I love Serge and was pleased to add this album of techno-Serge remixes to my collection. The different artists behind each of these songs are obviously big Serge fans and these remixes all seem like they are labors of love.

Some of the tracks are very good, Lola Rastaquoere, for example. Others (like New York, USA) were disappointing to me.

If you love Serge too you will enjoy having this in your collection.
