As a mother of an adopted daughter of color this book is a great buy. My daughter has also been asking me many questions about her skin color, and even though she is 5, I felt that I needed a book to help me communicate to her about the color difference that we share despite our wonderful bond. The book was on point with the verses. Our favorite verses are when Ruby expressed to her mother all the things she wanted to be including a president, a teacher and a princess.

I have also bought this book for other families (friends) with adopted children of color. I feel that it is a safe book to go to, when all the questions are thrown at you. Every time we read the book, my daughter lets me know how much she loves the skin she is in.

I also love that Ruby's has sparkles like pinkaliscious on her outfit on the cover. How cute.

This book has a simple yet profound message, appropriate and important for children of all ethnicities. It's a great lesson on self acceptance and celebration, yet with an emphasis on the value and contribution of us all, no matter what color we are. I just love it and have bought copies to give to my children, who are white, as well as my neighbor's children who are biracial. The illustrations are gorgeous - so colorful and uplifting. I wish every child could have this read to them.

I met the author, by chance, at the local post office, yesterday. The book was on the counter and was surprised to see it since I'd just read about it's June release in our local paper, several weeks back. I was able to briefly look at the book...just beautiful. Mrs. Raphael was pleasant to speak with. She informed me that the book had sold out on Amazon, so here I am placing an order for a future shipment. I look forward to sharing this with my daughter.

This book was perfectly written to be understood by children between the ages of 2-8, but it's equally enjoyed by the parents who are reading it to or with their children. It's simply written, straight to the point, clear and concise...exactly the way to get the point across to a youngster. Well done to the author and to the illustrator. Any gender, creed, or color can enjoy this book.

This book was a great find. I was looking for a similar book that I had purchased for my daughter, but found this one instead and it was better than what I needed because it fit the age of the child that I purchased it for. The price was good, but took a little longer to ship than I thought.

It is a good book to help little girls understand their skin color and why they should love themselves and their skin color.

This book is a great book for younger children only because it's short but I think think that anyone could read it because of the message that it brings
